Soodhu Kavvum (2013)
the story of petty criminals who are engulfed by their own occupation volunteering to ride the high tide, knowing well of its repercussions
It has been directed by debutant Nalan Kumarasamy, one of the talents of Naalaiya Iyakkunar, a reality show for aspiring directors. Soodhu Kavvum stars Vijay Sethupathy and Sanchita Shetty, alongwith MS Bhasker, Ramesh, Simhaa, Ashok, Karunakaran, Yog Japee and Radha Ravi in significant roles. director, Nalan Kumarasamy, transforms the plot into an extremely engaging film, with hilarious characters and entertaining situations. Music: Santosh Narayanan Genre:black Comedy Duration: 2 hours 17 minutes Soodhu Kavvum is a different kind of film that has not been seen in Tamil cinema Nalan Kumarasamy is a daring director to make a black comedy at a time when Tamil cinema is being bombarded by slapstick comedies. The most solid of the new breed actors Vijay Sethupathy as the 40 plus anti-hero and all new actors in supporting cast are apt and they make the film crackle Vijay Sethupathy steals the show with his shaggy salt and pepper beard and a paunch. His body language and dialogue delivery makes the character come alive Sanchita Shetty as his girlfriend is smashing and delivers some one- liners with perfect lip sync. It is one of the best films to have emerged out of Kollywood in a long, long time ' Soodhu Kavvum' marks a hat-trick of successes for Vijay Sethupathy after the thriller 'Pizza' and the situational comedy 'Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom'. His knack of choosing good roles and working with new directors brimming with ideas will stand him in good stead, as also the work he puts in to portray each character. He put on weight and grew a beard to play Das, and the look fits him to a 'T'. His chemistry with Shalu (Sanchita Shetty), who has a terrific screen presence and does a neat job in her debut movie, is a treat to watch
Though the movie features only one full song 'Kaasu panam', the soundtrack has other gems like 'Mama douser' and 'Come na come' and a background score that will remain with you long after you exit the theatre. With a smile!!!

THE film delivers classy romance. a promising debut by ATLEE. CINEMATOGRAPHY is excellent. Arya is very good in the lead role. This character is tailor made for him. His performance in the flashback scenes is very impressive. Nayanatara's performance is flawless and she owns this show. There are many moments that show the brilliance of this young director. This film has Life in it! The film made by director Atli has been well-received by Tamil audience. Debutant director Atlee's highly hyped Raja Rani starts off promisingly and keeps us engaged. Performance by lead actors , music , concept are highlights of the film. Raja Rani has it all good looking stars, big budget, rich look, peppy music, technically glitzy. there are traces of Mani Ratnam classic Mouna Ragam. GV Prakash's music is definitely one of the highlights of the film. And cinematographer George C Williams camera is eye-catching with terrific visuals and colours. Two hours and forty five minutes have never felt longer. lead actors' performances are the main attractions in the film. Tamil film industry too has been adopting this pattern of multistarrer film.
It's difficult to say who'd walk with all the accolades and all the lead actors were perfect in their roles.
Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (2014)
The Movie mainly emphasizes on the idea that, if humans talk openly with others, there will be no problems anymore and the world will be a peaceful place

It generated a kind of curiosity and people hoped that they have something special in store for them this time too. And Balaji Mohan has almost lived up to audience expectations. How? Find it by watching the film. Synopsis: A mysterious illness declared as dumb flu spreads in a quaint hill station forcing the town's residents from speaking. Will the problems in the place increase due to this or will it lead to better communication? the screenplay is refreshing and perfectly presented. pandiraj and robo shankar had done justice to their roles and acted perfectly well. you will definitely notice sean roldan's background score.on the whole the film is thoroughly enjoyable and the director definitely reinvented the rom com formula.with romance and comedy its one of the coolest summer release.this film is an highly ambitious effort and the director succeeds in his efforts.a totally new concept coupled with directors narrative style and screenplay makes this film thoroughly enjoyable.

Men are from Mars, women from Venus is the epicenter of the film
Kaadhalil Sodappuvadhu Eppadi, the short film that won the name and fame for director Balaji Mohan gets made into a full length feature film. A promising debut, Balaji Mohan! The film conveys that there is "no made for each other couple" that we come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly. the story , screenplay and presentation about boys, girls, love and heartache is worth a look. the chemistry between lead actors; cinematography and music are positive aspects of the film. A romantic comedy makes an appearance in Tamil cinema after a long gap.
cheers for Balaji Mohan for a good debut venture...
Damaal Dumeel (2014)
This slick and neat package would have been saved to a great extent if the narration was a little more interesting
Synopsis: A young man fired from his job finds bundles of cash at his doorstep. He decides to keep it but two gangs, to whom the money belongs, come after him. Can he dodge them and getaway with the cash? debut director sree comes with a thriller comedy that lacks punch as the movie goes on.Close in the footsteps of dark comedies .Nail-biting plot makes the film watchable. may not be exceptional but still has what it takes to be applauded for the effort. screenplay is racy which makes the film interesting from start to end.The story moves at a brisk pace till the end.Romantic track is used only in small doses and gives importance to the crux of the story. The movie has interesting characters which are unpredictable.Plot is wonderful , but loses steam in execution. It sets out to prove 'Money is the root of all Evil'. This is perhaps an attempt at black comedy, but it falls completely flat, especially in the climax.Despite its faults, the film is engaging in parts.TRIVIA
