Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Some decent SciFi here
Don't understand all the hateful comments here.
Seems like the audience lost the sense for SciFi. C'mon, if you can't handle such kind of SciFi better stay with Marvel.
Was it the best movie ever? No.
Was it a bad movie? No.
Did it deserve all of the hatred? Definitely not!
The movie (1st part so far) has a solid (but forseeable) story, good acting and incredible images/sceneries. The villain offered an amazing performance - you know from the first second, he's not a nice guy - and later on you really start to hate him without any problems.
Personally, I can't wait for the next part being aired in April.
Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage? (2022)
Interesting insights into life as a star
Actually, I'm no big fan of Idina - but this documentary shows a side, we typically not see from stars: The human side
The way she tries to stay in contact with her boys and getting pregnant on tour. We saw little breakdowns caused by the pressure and one day she did not even know what city she was in. Showing the human side of her and the troubles she has like normal people do also have, makes her very sympathetic at the end.
Besides this, it was also a bit of an advertising show for her, so overall I end up with mixed feelings about this documentary. But still more on the positive side, for sure.
Star Trek: Picard: Farewell (2022)
Amazing finale...but
I loved the finale of season 2, but honestly speaking the whole season should have been a 2 1/2 hours movie.
The overall story was amazing, but too long with too many long and unnecessary parts in the storyline.
If season 2 were a movie, I'd give a 10/10.
The Bubble (2022)
I want my two hours back!
What a senseless movie with a script that sucks from the beginning to the end. Even worse, it's not funny at all - none of the pseudo-jokes ever fires.
Just stare for two hours at a white wall instead...it's the same level of entertainment.
2067 (2020)
Decent movie with a cool story - but with a plothole as big as a black hole!
Overall, I enjoyed the movie: Nice story, the acting was okay (even if not perfect), the CGI was fair.
Most annoying thing for me was the skeleton-plothole: Ethan finds his own skeleton in the future with a bullet hole in his forehead. The Archie device found next to the skeleton, played a recording where you heard Jude killing him by a shoot at the end of their argument.
The problem: The time travel device connect the years 2067 and 2467 with each other. Based on the Archie recording, Ethan was clearly shot in 2467 during their argument - but why was he decomposed to a skeleton already when he was shot at the same point in time while being there alive? That doesn't make sense! Placing a dead Ethan corpse (instead of a skeleton) would have saved this issue; probably the CGI department failed on this idea and they decided to put a skeleton there without thinking of the consequences.
Other people in the wide web meant, he got killed after he went back to 2067 and were left there for 400 years while he decomposed. But that's not what you hear/see on the Archie-recording.
Seems like the QA failed on this issue.
Besides that, it's a watchable movie with some deeper message!
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Very entertaining and much better than most of the critics here
Forget about the critics/trolls here: The movie is amazing, the acting and the script are very good. I wasn't eager to see it first, but now I'm happy that I saw it. Give it a try, it's worth it!
PS: It's classic popcorn cinema - if you want to see something with thoughtfulness, go and rewatch Schindler's List.
Star Trek: Discovery: That Hope Is You, Part 2 (2021)
Why so much hatred?
It was a great season finale - I just don't get the hatred here all over!
To all the whiners: Go and watch TOS until the very end and stop watching this show if you hate it so much!
Enola Holmes (2020)
Waste of time
To say it clearly: For me it was a pure waste of time. It's a movie made for children (12-15), but was advertised differently. Besides that it hat a thin story. Constantly talking to the audience didn't help either. Would not recommend unless you have seen everything else on this planet before.
