True Detective (2014– )

Season 1 is a 10/10 masterpiece of writing and acting.

Season 2 is a 8/10 with great acting & action.

Season 3 is a 4/10 disaster with three timeliness that jump back and forth so frequently and inconsistently that the Director must have ADD. It could have been three episodes, 1980, 1990 & 2015 instead of the cluster bomb it is.

Season 4 is not off to a good start and might end up being a 2/10.

Season 5 I hope never happens based on the above trajectory of the series and will likely be a 1/10.

Too late to stop while they're ahead, but the sooner they do the better the will preserve the legacy of the first two seasons.

How We Get Free (2023)

Feature instead of Short

I would have liked to seen this as a much better funded feature length documentary instead of a thirty minute short. Elizabeth Epps deserves a tonne of credit and respect for what she has achieved, America needs more true hero's like her. The issues with America's policing and for-profit jailing are widespread, systemic and globally known, hopefully that will change one day but as a Canadian watching the USA gong show from afar, I highly doubt much change will come to a country so ingrained in politics, power, racism & outright hatred. I once wanted a Greencard, now I don't even want to visit.

I haven't read the book but what I can say is the movie is far better than the pure drivel written by the review critics for $2 a word pay who try to unsuccessfully flex their brain muscle by putting the movie down and saying it's shallow, when in fact they're the ones who are shallow. Most of them likely haven't read the book either but I'd be surprised if they even watched the entire movie before they put their taunt opinions to paper and submitted to whatever woke media conglomerate or nearly defunct website they work for, and I use the word work very loosely. A good reminder to look at user reviews instead.

Great documentary that ended very well informing us that Michael Lang is now dead, hopefully the other producer John Scher joins him in hell soon where they will both burn like the disaster of a festival they created.

Very convoluted documentary, I gave it a seven just for the sadness of the story as it wasn't very well made and would be a four or five in that regard. Film students could have put this together better.

Great documentary, I'd like to see another one about the gross judicial misconduct of the highly corrupt judge who should be removed from his authoritative position, judges like him are the problem with the American system.

Clearly Las Vegas is the most corrupt city in the USA, which is the most corrupt country in the world. I hope people stay away from both after watching this and boycott MGM everywhere. RIP to the 58 victims.

Good portrayal of Gitmo and the abuses that happen there and shows viewers who the real global terrorists are, the all mighty & corrupt USA. Hard pill for an American to swallow but the sooner they do the better off they will be.

First season is amazing, then it slowly becomes so ridiculously far fetched it's unbearable to watch. Glad there's only three seasons, wouldn't be able to take any more.

Made it past the first scene of ridiculousness where people who sell cows for a living are wearing bullet proof vests and open firing semi-automatic weapons in the street like they're navy seals, surprisingly it just gets worse from there.

Very good documentary if you can put up with the deluded nut-job mouth piece that is Candace Zamperini and the corrupt DA who is now a Judge and likely still corrupt. If Michael Petterson were to kill someone, it probably would have been Candace.
