Thrill ride for Franchise fans

Saw "Evil Dead Rise" last night.

As a fan of the original films I was just excited to see what they'd do to it in a modern setting.

It was a crazy, thrill ride and I was not disappointed! The music was superb.... intense in all the right places with sound effects creeping from left to right to give me shivers 😋 Alyssa Sutherland was an absolute tour de force as the lead with the rest of the cast smashing it too.

My only gripe would be how they get "The Book" in the hands of our main characters....just felt 2 dimensional and a little lazy.

But I beseech you all to go watch it on the biggest screen with the biggest speakers you can!

Lots of references and nods to Metal and D&D. Captures the trials and tribulations of being a loser at school.

Don't try to and analyze and critique this too much.....just solid fun, with some heart. Enjoy!

Ok...maybe I don't get it. Maybe I'm from a different walk of life where if you are privileged you should count your blessings....and not simply cut your nose off to spite your face.

I felt no sympathy for the main character...only for his parents.... I simply took it that the universe itself was poisoning him for being an ungrateful @#&!

How on earth can this person be inspiring?? Jack Kerouac he certainly ain't.

Overall the acting was fine, script was nice and cinematography great....and obviously made well enough to solicit a reaction from me...but ultimately if I end up hateful towards the lead who is meant to be inspirational... what's the point?? Spoilt brat dies. Woah. I care not.

(This is just the film..... I'm sure the dude it's based on is amazing... it's just this interpretation)

Deathgasm (2015)

Purple humour, bloody gore and death metal!

Great fun! If you want a straight horror don't watch this.... If you want a music comedy with a more childish lilt than "Shaun Of The Dead", you'll love it.

Just a great laugh. Not to be taken too seriously. The style is pitched perfectly for what it is.

Goosebumps for grownups

Excellent film. Stories, characters and design were great. If you watched this thinking this was a full-blown horror (Which I have to be honest the trailer could make you believe) you would be thoroughly disappointed.

If, however, you watched with an open mind and let the film tell it's story I think you would find this very entertaining.

It's good fun. Enjoy.

First Reformed (2017)

Hard work.... But ultimately a fine film.

I found the clinical and sparse nature of the first bit of the film a bit hard going truth be told, feeling like it wasn't going to go anywhere....... But on reflection it's obviously a choice to represent the mood of Ethan Hawke's Reverend. Thought provoking.... And the each still shot could be a Vettriano or Hockney painting.....underrated cinematography.

The I-Land (2019)

An in self isolation seeking new series.... So I have time on my hands..... But I'm 32 minutes in.... And no.... I just can't. This is bad. So bad. Like the worst thing ever made by Netflix. Run while you can.
