Ireum eobsneun yeong-ungdeul (1978)
Most Iconic Propaganda Film To Come Out of Pyongyang
Yes, I was lucky to have finally seen this Spy Thriller by the DPRK. I saw it in Korean without subtitles. Its not hard to follow. The film follows Yu Rim, a DPRK agent sent to South Korea to gather information on the US activities in South Korea. The film is most infamous for having the four US defectors staring in them. The film is over 20 hours released in 20 parts. The English is overdubbed in Korea. Parrish plays a depressed Irish Man, who is against the British Imperialist in his Northern Ireland, Abshier plays an evil intelligence officer with the US, Jenkins play Kelton, a Schemer whos is trying to keep the war going to get profits, and Dresnok plays Arthur, a brutal commander of a POW camp. All the defectors surprising played there role well, with the exception of Abshier who didn't seem to look like an evil officer. Anyway, the movie portrays American's as evil Schemers, South Koreans as puppets and the North Korean's as heroes and patriotic Koreans.
