This show Sucks
23 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I found that this show tried to rip of aspects of several older great shows. "The Invaders".IE: they have been hear for years infiltrating us and melt away when they die, and some unlikely hero finds out and starts fighting back. Kind of also akin to "The First Wave" and of course them being Lizards like the original "V". This show seems to be trying to mix several older shows together while adding a Bit of "X-Files" to the mess and current politics on anti terrorism. If people want to see the good shows watch the originals.........The acting seems to be very wooden almost like they know the show sucks but they agreed to do it so they try to do something. I have yet to see a remake to be better the the original but in this case the remake seem to have but done while at a all night kegger a two year old might have been able to have done a better show.

A classic movie remake bombs
19 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Yet again movie makers had a chance to make a great movie and relied on special effects and no story. This time the warning from space was stop destroying Earth by pollution killing off the other species we share the planet with. The first was don't take war into space and to the rest of the species waiting for us there. But while we got the message in the first movie in this one it was clouded by a evil government not wanting to talk a bitter and disrespectful boy that would have been a better character in a gangster movie then this one with his kill them all hate them all talk. I did under stand the idea of the movie but this was a much much darker movie, thousands of people killed, and his message never delivered to any one who could do any thing with it. It reminded me more of "Terminator 2" in that the terminator finally got what emotions were at the end when it was two late. I actually found I liked the C. Thomas Howell movie "The Day The Earth Stopped" to better in that it had a better story line. This could have been such a great movie but they went for special effect instead of a good story.

A another remake of other movies
9 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
SPIKE TV may have thought they were trying something new with this film but right from the start it reminded me of "Wrong Turn". Especially when the 2 campers were attacked first the man is killed then the girl runs falls gets caught and dragged away. In "Wrong Turn" it was rock climbers. Then you have the two groups getting lost after getting directions from a bartender, well that is the "Hills Have Eyes" and a gas station. The abandoned military bunker with a "family living in it. Well that could be taken from either "Hills" of "Texas Chainsaw Massaure". The impostor law or forest ranger that takes them back to the home, right out of "TCM". The real ranger showing up then getting shot with an arrow "WRong Turn". The use of captured women for breeding "Hills Have Eyes 2". Nothing about this movies was original in any way not even the ending which is now over down in every movie. The acting was at best labored like they knew they were making a a not so good movie. Some of the humor is OK. But it is not a movie worth paying anything to see.

Good up to the last then it lost is way
25 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this movie a 7 for the fact that it was a adaptation of a King book done well to the big screen for the most part. I would have given it a 8 or 9 but for the lack of real emotion from the actors in the roles. The need to change the ending from a group breaking free of the store and making a run for freedom killing themselves when the gas ran out in there 4x4 just before they would have been saved by the almighty army. Granted Some licenses is taken when a movie is made from book but the ending is so different I almost began to laugh. This movie did try really really hard so I can't totally slam it but I will slam the ending. The ending really really sucked. If you have read the book you would also agree. And even with out the book the ending sucked.

What this movie is is not a telling of Beowulf!!!!!!!
12 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie seemed to rely on the hope that those going to see it were brain dead slugs who never picked up a book before in their lives. First it seemed like they were trying to make a poor remake of Excalibur. After that it just gets worse and worse. Where I would have given some leeway to improvisation to the story to make the film, this movie or as was mentioned by some of my friend as a very expensive and confusing cartoon, was from the first attack on the hall onward so far removed from the original that I almost felt like vomiting. If this is passing for adaptations of classics stories then please they need to stop now. Between the Dragon being his son (the golden child) who he has to kill and knows how to kill because of the story told to him by the king and so on I felt like I was watching a crumpled together bunch of movies that caused me to get lost because I kept getting lost as to what I was watching because it kept jumping to the other movies using almost word for word and scene for scene. People should read the book and burn this movie.

Fresh water "sea" monster
19 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is fairly good it develops the characters well gives a real feel to the problems facing small fishing communities and local native Indian tribes. The theory that all myths are based in some fact and we do not always know everything of the world around us. You feel sorry for the victims but also see that the victims were that because of over fishing driving a Giant Squid to find new sources of food and that being humans. The squid is a killer of humans but also is just doing what it has to to survive, so in away it was also a victim of the film as much as the humans it killed. Of course the scientist who finds it tries to get help but is not believed as giant squid do not live in fresh water lakes and they play it safe and bury their heads. This has a lot of good properties to it even being a "low budget film" but it works out well.

Plot holes that never end
19 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
First a Grizzly as large as the one in this film would need a large hunting ground but yet seemed to be in a fairly small one around a blocked of toxic waste dump and has never been noticed by anyone . Second is the waste dump it self why so many shots of it when they never bothered to say why, was it the reason the bear was so aggressive/seemingly intelligent, was the bear put there to guard the dump, where did the dump come from, why has it not affected the trees and ground water to get noticed by rangers and or nearby communities as from the rusty barrels it has been there for many years. Intelligence on the people, a tire iron is not going to do much against a adult bear, going off alone over and over when as a group they would stand a better chance, not trying to make weapons such as spears at nigh they sit around 2 flash lights instead of building a large a fire as they can for light to give warning of the bear but also to use as protection not to mention to maybe signal someone that at least they were in a no trespassing area to get rangers interested. The cabin seemed to be set up as a defensible position but they don't use it or get any of the weapons from it, also who built it when and what happened to them and when, as recent chicken remains are shown but the cabin it self look long deserted. They trap the bear in the barn but they already see it is getting lose but they just walk away with out trying to reinforce the trap or kill the bear that escapes and kills them leaving no one left alive. Alas your left just siting there going what just happened and why did a watch this.

Th worst of the worst
24 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I had high expectations for this film and was so disappointed that I wish I had been unable to go see it because I was down with a case of Plague. It started out OK then blam it all but turned into a combination of subplots that felt like you were riding over a pot hole filled road. Lets see with have The Sandman as a criminal with a bad streak of luck who killed Pete's uncle by accident while trying to steal money to help his dying daughter and gets to walk away free after saying he was sorry. Harry accepts his dad went insane and in trying to kill Pete killed himself and then dies fighting to save Pete holding M J's hand. With have Gwen in this one who was Pete's GF for quite a period of time in the comics until she is killed then he goes to M J, but in this one she lives and is used to hurt M J while under the influence of Venom. Now Venom started out OK but now instead of part of Pete he is just a suit he can take on and off until he tries to reject it. It seemed like they were less trying to put a classic comic to the big screen and falling into the pit of Hollywood to make a big FX movie with bad story and a lot of chick flick tear jerky crap and big action scenes that seemed to have been added just to give the teenage boys some entertainment. I will admit parts were OK but over all this had to be one of the most hyped up and disappointing movies I have screen recently.

Starts good ends with with a yawn.
13 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I don't like to write comments on movies as I find that I seem to like movies others hate and hate what others like but this movie leaves little either way. It starts out good with a mysterious death on the Police chief's last day in the town. From their we meet a couple traveling they have good development and then boom dead in a car explosion. And from there it gets silly a ex alcoholic as a school bus driver driving a basket ball team of 3 girls. Then you have Menonites who think the ravens are a second plague on them, but maybe just the result of mad cow disease as the have ate their infected dead cattle. Then you have allusions to them being a demonic force. Then they attack kill and get blown up and what are left start to die but again why is unknown for sure. The hero then goes home with girl to be killed by the Ravens that were waiting for them. So why the Ravenswent on a kill spree is alluded to but never given a real reason, the people who get killed off sooner get better development and the "survivors" are for the most part very wooden. The fact that The chief's girl was a cultural anthropologist, a fact made several times with out and use of that fact, seems was in the town to study the Menonites and met the cop was not even able to see that they were hiding anything until she falls down a well. This movie had a lot of good plot mix but they were never used the correct way or developed or blended together in such a mash that it seemed they were bored. This movie had a lot of potential but then when it came to making it they just seem to even try, made for Sci_fi or not come on at least take some pride in the work.

Finialy a movie that is not full of blood and gore and nudity
26 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this movie a lot. It was of the few movies that had both a good story, good acting did not see the need to be full of blood and gore or have a bunch of nude girls running around. This movie relied more on script the effects which is also refreshing. For a low budget movie this was very well done. I know many people will say it was lame, boring, dull etc etc because of all the reasons I liked it. I admit some of the acting was a bit strained and some over the top but over all it is a good thinking movie. Of course the ending for the movie is not true to real life as Lucy Keyes has never been found nor the reason for disappearance ever known, but it was other wise a very well done movie.

Another movie that relied on to much effects and not enough plot
26 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Of all the X movies this is the worst. Juggarnaught who is Professor Xaviers half brother who hates all mutants teams up with mutants, his power if from a magical source and he is not a mutant. Thus magneto would not have let him join, plus his powers would not have be nullified by the boy in the lab. The entire story is very very lame, It totally is gone from the comics, it totally has not story to it the only good thing are the effects but a movie with no story can not be saved by special effects. Fantastic Four which had both a good story and good effects did poorly but this movie did well go figure, I guess movie goers now days don't want to have to think at the movies now days and want to just watch a video game on the screen

How many loop wholes can you have in one movie?
10 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
First, the babies hatch and yet have no food except each other but yet grow to adults in large numbers. Second the volcano has been dormant for a few million years plus and yet it is called Mt. Arat which has been explored many many times but yet never were found any of the eggs, the nests, or bones of any of the adults that laid the eggs.... Then we have a group of college kids none of which would have been taken on any kind of expedition with as limited amount of supplies they had. The we have a rip off from "Starship Troopers" with the cutting in half of some and decapitating of others with there wings. For one their bones are hollow and the impact on the the human body would have snapped them like matchsticks. Then we have them over and over crossing OPEN land when they the experts on the Pterasaurs and a covert SPec Ops unit that would always stick to the cover of the trees, being attacked over and over, DUH. Then comes their flying Pterasaurs were gliders, they would have had very limited fling abilities, let alone able to hoover, fly backwards etc. Then we have T-Rex hatching in the same area as the Pterasaurs, No animal will make its nest with in snacking distance of another predatory species. And again we have more eggs and babies with nothing to eat but each other, let alone learn from. Plus T-Rex was not a social animal and yet it looks like a few mothers laid their eggs in the same area as at least 30-100 eggs were implied. Take out the science, lack of basic sense, a lack of real military actions, then it might be worth it as a time killer, if you are desperate.

How desperate can you get
30 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had no redeeming factors except it well killed a boring afternoon. The Minotaur looked silly more like a sick milk cow with a over bite. The acting was flat no feeling even when Todd's character tried to seduce his sister, sick and really had nothing to do with the movie. The"HERO" Theo acted more lick a spoiled brat and by the end you were hoping he would be eaten. The "MUTE" girl was the only one I was glad survived to the end. Plus the adaption of the myth behind this movie was badly done. Lots of blood splatters I will give that but if you have $5 to rent a movie by-pass this one unless you are really bored.

If going to make a remake try to do a good job
15 June 2006
Yjis is another in a long list of remakes of classic movies that are being turned out. As with the others they are going for big gross outs, nudity, and on to sell a story that does not exist. This movies was so predictable that I was able to know who and when each person was going to die, who would live and all with in the first 10 min. If you want to see a good movie avoid this unless you like a movie with a lot of gore and not acting. If you want a good movie to see rent the original Wes Craven 1977. Of all the remakes I have seen in the last 2 years the only one I find to be any good was King Kong. Please tell the directors and studios if you going to make a remake try to do a good one with characters you care about pro or con, acting that is not wooden and a plot that is not so weak a feather could break it. The only reason this turkey got a 3 was because the gore was good and that was about it. Like War of the Worlds it had a big budget that went in effects more then the story, by the was I hated that movie too except for the effects.

A good mix of elements
14 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is different then most monster movies. You actually like the monster and understand its motivations. In this one it was protecting it self and a dead companions last rest. The poachers are from the beginning are people you hope to see die, especially ED. This movie also is different in that it did not rely on CGI, sex, nudity or extreme gore to sell it self. The narration at the beginning and end of the movie is also good and fit well into the movie. The Bad guys all die in the end though not in the way you expect, the four kids all live along with the ranger and instead of jumping on the band wagon they have, they sit back and let it pass, showing much more maturity then many adults. The characters were believable and well played. Comapred to many "bigfoot" or "monster" movies this is a prize worth seeing. That is unless you are looking for sex, nudity, gore and a mindless script IE ATTACK OF THE SABARTOOTH and others.

The Relic meets Resident Evil, and dies
24 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This movie like so many based on video games is very very poorly done. The creatures are at the same time supposed to be just animals with low intelligence and of high, the Zombie's created from their lava implanted on the human spine are at best lame. The fact that the final conflict between the agents and the creatures was so lame, no well organized group with the funding they had would have just one generator, why no portable to go with the lights they brought? Their security was none as seen by the fact the a guy was able to just walk in and destroy the one generator they had. The choppers by basic military tactics would never had flown as low and close to building that they did for the simple reason it would make them to easy to take out. WHen they new they were not going to be able to hold the open ground when the genny went, why did they not fortify the building to make their stand. The creatures looked a lot like the one from the relic and the museum chase was almost identical. The ending was a take right from resident evil. A major plot error with the creatures who can not stand sun light attacking them in the sun light? If you want to see a movie at least worth seeing go for The Relic and Resident Evil and kip this one. I feel sorry for the cast who were in this movie they are so much better then this.

Godd movie with some bad spots
18 July 2005
While this invention of WOW is more along the lines of HG Wells's book and the tripods along with the red weed and the use of human blood as fertilizer for the weed which is their food (while in the book blood was their food, and the weed was just that an alien weed). The Short lived T.V. series also touched on the aliens need for blood (but for different reasons) and the fact that they were not actually martians but only used Mars as a staging area. The idea that they had buried their tri-pods on earth millions of years ago is a bit of a stretch and would have done better if they had followed the book and the 53 movie in that they came to Earth via a meteor storm. It also failed in the scientific area as not attempt was made to address the aliens as was done in the book and the 53 movie. This movie would have been better if it was maybe 45 min longer and added more of the elements of either the book or the 53 movie. But over all the special effects were good and just about the only good thing from this movie. The acting by Mr. Cruise was so flat I was wondering if he was even trying to act or was sleep walking. (maybe his Scientology has depriving him of his humanity). He seems to do less acting and relies more on FXs. The acting was well done by Dakota. The story could have been well done except that there were far to many missing elements.

The Punisher (1989)

A much better movie then the big budget remake
22 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Lungren as The Punisher play the part very well, a man who lost every thing except he need for revenge but in the process of getting his revenge he losses what made him Frank. When the Japnesse mafia move in and kidnap the children of the local crime family he is forced to face the fact that in his pursuit of revenge he has placed the lives of the ones he swore to protect in danger. The action was well done the fight scenes are well done, he is not invincible and receives several wounds for a super hero that is refreshing, granted I think Kill Bill took a bit from this in the fact the body guard of the crime queen is a teenage female a bit on the crazy side. Over all I think this is a much better film then the remake at least the actors act, and not just say lines, the drunk is great.

tired to use special effects to cover up a horrible movie
17 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
When compared to the movie from 1970 this is so poor a remake that you almost want to laugh, the story again was taken to great liberties when compared to the actual events but this movie tried to use some hi-tech effects to scare you and gross you out rather then good story telling. IE. when the ghost of Jodi pulls the baby-sitter finger and puts it into the bullet hole in her head. George Lutz was played as a I don't give a crap person even before the house started to effect him, you were almost hoping he would just die so the movie would be more bearable. I will admit the only thing good about the movie was the acting of the kids, they gave this life and at least watchable. Other then that I can find nothing good about this movie. The acting was forced and almost boring even when you were supposed to be scared you weren't. The movie relied on to much FX's and to little on story and to little on plot. and way to many liberties were taken from the book, and from the actual events to even make it plausible as a based on actual events. Save your money and see another film.

Not worth the energy to watch
12 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I feel so sorry for Amy Jo , she had to have been very very very bad off to have been a part of this film. She did her best and was damn good in her role but she just was not able to carry this movie beyond being why was it made. I found it to try to be scary and was not, tried to be gross and kind of succeeded but only because she was the one that always seemed to be covered in blood. The premise made no sense, the story had a hundred holes in it. The effects were just bad, the attempt at a mystery failed because you never understood what they were doing how the flies got to the house or why Steven wanted to kill his friends apart from being yuppies. Give me a break Black Fire was a lot more interesting. I hope Amy Jo if she gets this desperate again goes back to Power Rangers, that had class compared to this pile of I don't know what to call it.

Not bad, not great
4 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
OK we have 4 city electricians who find a mini nuke reactor, turn it in and fall into a parallel universe inhabited by a Giant spider queen also from a parallel universe, who managed to slip through with a few of her kin to take over the earth, but alas she is the only one left? If so why did not the rest of humanity join up and hunt her down. Also what happened to the military, no way a few billion plus round of ammo could have been used up and why hide out in a basement when a lot more defensible places had to available. Also not a dig on city workers, but how is it they knew what a mini nuke reactor looked like and how if they did not have one in the parallel universe, could they reopen the rift? Sorry but there was nothing likable about the movie

Not bad, not great
4 April 2005
I saw this movie after the badly made 13th child Legend of the Jersey Devil. I am glad of this or else I would have assumed that no one remembered that a movie based on a legend should be based on the legend and not the plain and bad ideas of a bad plot bad acting and little or no reference to the legend but what they used to make a bad movie. Over all this could have been better but is is not a bad movie and is worth renting if not owning unless you are a fan of movies that have a factual base and like stories about creature such as Bigfoot, Nessie and the Jersey Devil. The problem with this movies and other is that it is a movies based on a legend and the opinions of the people who have claimed to have seen them and as you can have 10 people see the same event at the same time but have 10 different versions of what they saw.

not a Good movie in any sense
4 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The monsters look like rubber toys, the mother monster looked like I don't know what, and nothing like her babies. The acting was sub standard. There was obvious reference's to Alien, and other much better movies. The premise for the movie was good but it failed when turned into a film. Finding a preserved million's year old insect/monster/alien is a old plot line but it could have been turned into a good movies but this was not it. I am a fan of horror films but this was more of a comedy, the death scenes were so so bad, the "attacks" were almost so bad you wanted to laugh. I am really wondering what a better budget/director could have done with this movie?

Bad movie is being kind
4 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The Devil in this movie looks like a rip off of Alien, the acting is so bad, it looked like they just wanted to leave, cant blame them. The movie says it is the legend be hind the the Jersey Devil it gives you a really bad idea of what the movie is about. What you get is a shapeshifiting pair of cured brother's 200 years old who go around killing people, the reason if never given, OK so they were cursed for killing a Shaman's son, but not why they are killing now, or why they are stuck in the area that are. The movies starts out good then goes off into the outterlimits. There is only a few moments when anything doing with the legend is even touched on. I know I am a bit biased on the horror, monster movie genre as I like all kinds and types but of all I have seen this must be close to the top of my 10 worst movies I have seen. Saw you time and your money and avoid this movie.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was made before the whole save the earth felling took off and it is a great coming on age and just because your from the backwaters of the US and maybe not the next Einesteine you can make a difference. It was also a "risky" move and I love the movie for it showing a interracial "family". and treating a black man in the south with respect in a time period when both were all but unheard off. This is a closet classic and I would recommend it to any one. The footage of the swamps is incredible, the acting is well done and is a must for anyone who loves out door movies that kick the c*** out of the poachers, hunters, defilers in general that never seem to stop tring to ruin our planet
