Cha wu ci xin (2022)
Decent Thriller
Never heard of it before. Not a single review on IMDB. Saw that Dread Central gave it 4/5 stars. Gave it a shot. Fast paced, kept my attention, and I'd definitely recommend it. I needed to really pay attention and the movie was good enough that I didn't mind. It's not "Se7en" but it's absolutely worth a watch. While watching it I found that I stopped scrolling on my phone about 5 minutes in and never started up again all the way through. That's usually my personal test on whether I'd recommend a movie or not. If you liked Se7en, Gone Girl, or I Saw the Devil, then you should give this a watch.
A Time of Change: Confronting AIDS (1986)
Powerful
I was only 3 when this first aired. By the time I was learning about AIDS they had already identified what caused it and how to protect yourself. This showed what it was like BEFORE that and I don't think I fully understood how truly terrifying it was at that time. Very informative and highly recommend.
I've watched this many times now. I think that one reason I find it so interesting is not just that it shows a time before me but, as a straight male and former Marine, showed me the experience of a whole other type of hero that was totally different from what I knew beforehand. Like the Marines I served with, here's a group of unrelated men truly caring for and protecting each other out of pure love and respect. Powerful.
Hellraiser (2022)
Skips All Pitfalls of a Bad Remake
I was dreading this. As a HUGE fan of the first 2 Hellraiser movies there was no way I was gonna miss this but I wasn't expecting much. I am so happy to say how much I was proven wrong. I still prefer the first 2 original movies. However this remake did it's own thing while staying true to the lore. Everything from the look of the box, cenobites, and the way the box operates were original. It was it's own story while still hitting the marks that made the Hellraiser universe so interestingly terrifying. I would highly recommend this to everyone from a true fan to someone that's never seen a Hellraiser movie before.
Bad Moon (1996)
Werewolf Movie for Dog Lovers
My wife and I watched this on Shudder as a late night movie to just have on in the background. Like many have said, it's nothing new. However, if you're a gore/horror hound there's quite a bit to enjoy here. We were both surprised. There's 2 scenes of God awful 90s CGI but the rest is good old fashioned practical effects. By far the greatest part of the movie is that the family dog not only lives but is the hero of the movie! Loved that!
Horror in the High Desert (2021)
Best Way to Watch
Don't read anything about the plot. It's not well known, they use actors that not only can act but also look like real people, and it's filmed like a documentary. So let your significant other know you heard about a really good REAL scary documentary. By the end you'll both be watching wide eyed while holding your breath...
Ed Gein Interview (2020)
Fake
Obviously fake interview complete with HORRENDOUS "acting"
Friday the 13th: The Series: Bad Penny (1989)
Haven't Seen Since Aired Yet Still Remember....
I was that little kid who LOVED everything "horror." Every Saturday night I would watch Monsters, Tales from the Dark Side, and (my favorite) Friday the 13th The Series. Looking back at those, now, I appreciate them for the nostalgic value but they are mostly pretty corny. However, this episode scared me so bad and made such an impression on me that I used the storyline for a Halloween play in highschool and STILL remember how scary it truly was. If you're checking out some episodes of this super cool series, make sure you hit this one!
