Doragon Bôru Sûpâ Sûpâ Hîrô (2022)
A Better Than Expected Wild Ride
After seeing stills and some of the teasers, I was sure I was going to be disappointed by many things in the film (especially the animation style).
I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and well-crafted everything looked. The fight scenes were clear and you could follow everything that was happening which is something you don't normally see in the Dragon Ball franchise. The film made me laugh me throughout and not just because of the call backs or fan service. It was genuinely funny. The music elevated the scenes instead of just having some "hype" tracks randomly play. It felt like I was just watching a fun action comedy film.
I think this really may be the best Dragon Ball movie for me. I'm looking forward to the future of the franchise.
Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild (2021)
A Fun Short Prequel To Monster Hunter World
I'm pretty surprised by the terrible reviews of this film by Monster Hunter enthusiasts. My first MH game was MHW. I recognized the main character (Excitable A-Lister) and the "Serious Handler" as soon as I saw the trailer. The scene on the boat seems like it takes place immediately before we meet them at the beginning of MHW, which to me is a really cool easter egg. I don't think the film was the greatest thing I've ever seen, but it was definitely better than the live action film. As the other reviews have said, if the film was longer and had a bit more character development, it would have been much more impactful. The animation is not that great at times and so the fight scenes could have been better. But the reason I gave this a 7 out of 10 is because I feel like it genuinely captures the essence of MH. For the short amount of time the film had, I think it delivered exactly what was necessary.
Krrish 3 (2013)
Not For Avid Movie Watchers at ALL
I'm usually used to the Bollywood cinema having horrible graphics and action. However, I was hoping that Krrish was taking a step towards a new look to Bollywood action/superhero movies. I'm a huge fan of Marvel and DC so if you are too, you can see why I gave this movie a 1 out of 10.
First off, the Krrish teamed bragged about how great their movie was and that America should learn from them. That is the biggest joke i've heard. They completely copied the characters from X-Men and made them even less impressive. The main bad guy was made somewhat like Charles Xavier and was doing experiments on subjects like The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man movie. They even went as far as to call the characters mutants. Why make a movie when your ideas aren't even original? If they had flat out said that they were copying X-Men I would've felt a little better. But the team said, "It will be better than the X- Men series". WRONG
Secondly, the graphics were made in the trailers to look decent. I was hoping their would be some good action sequences and at least something original in that sense. I was disappointed. The movie had horrible graphics and horrible actions sequences.
Third, I would say this movie would've been bearable if at least the actors and actresses had done a good job. The only person in the movie that provided somewhat of a decent role was Kangna Ranaut. All the other actors looked cheesy. Vivek definitely LOOKED the part, but he couldn't act it. The kid in the flashback did a better job as a bad guy than he did.
Finally, the cheesiness. Bollywood is known for it's excessive cheese. But when you are making a superhero flick, you try to steer away from all the cheesy dance sequences and the love. The love story between Hritikh and Priyanka had already been set up and fully explained in the first Krrish movie. The extra scenes between Krrish and his family were too excessive and once again had cheesy dialogue. Then Kangna falling for Hritikh?! I mean come on...at least make the bad guys actual bad guys. Why do they have to make love an extra twist in this movie too???
Overall, I did not find the humor, the acting, the plot, or the characters in this movie even decent. There was next to no character development and some scenes were just downright horrifying.
