A Feast of Souls (2004)
Hell is eternal revenge
I caught the haunting appearance of A Feast of Souls at the Fearless Tales Film Festival in San Francisco CA. I write this review four months after seeing the film and I am still disturbed at what I have seen as if I'd traveled into hell myself and returned with a bit of hit caught on my coat tail.
A Feast of Souls in a horror show with multiple levels, like hell itself. Once you pass through the tunnel, the rabbit hole of horror, the game of supernatural valence is afoot. Look for a powerful performance by Director/Performer Josh Smith who plays Kyle. Also prepare for a hypnotic performance from Ra Sylver the Slave Girl. Ra has the screen presence to give a grown man a High School crush that's what movie stars do.
And oh, dear God, the sound of flies.
The Legend of Crazy George (2002)
A road movie through Hell and places further South
The Legend of Crazy George premiered at the Fearless Tales Film Festival. Audience members where fiercely divided, calling it a work or crap or a feat of genius. The film is an art house horror flick whose surrealism pushes the limits of the genre. Crazy George is three films in one. Designed as a riddle, the film takes advantage of the idea that owners of the DVD will watch and re-watch this cult classic until all three level of the the mystery are solved. No rerun blues with Crazy George.
On the surface Crazy George is all whiskey, weed, and just a little bull - with enough blood, guts and nudity to keep horror fans salivating. Under the surface lurk two more stories. A tale of guts and gore resting upon the spirit of Dante's Inferno, an examination of hell and the prospect of redemption. Even deeper is the third story, an examination of evil and the possibility that Crazy George might actually be real and like the Devil locked in a duel with God. As some cast and crew members will tell you, there are true stories hidden the film which need to be taken seriously and hidden properly from those who can not, shall not, will not understand.
Here are your hints: "Just because you choose not to see it doesn't mean its not there" and "With out the shedding of blood there can be no redemption."
