Babel (I) (2006)

This movie was lame

You would think this would be a good one to see, but halfway through the movie you realize that the three plots are totally predictable and then they just start to become ridiculous. Brad Pitt and the entire Morrocan plot was good and entertaining. But the deaf mute Japanese girl- I mean cmon. I felt like I was watching the Grudge the entire time. Oh and the poor poor nanny that the writer/director tries to make the audience feel sorry for. She deserved everything she got. This is a sad attempt to make a political statement about illegal immigration. At least try and make the character likable and someone who does not make stupid decisions. I wouldn't waste your time in seeing this one. This is a rental at best.

The Dry Spell (2005)
Hilarious
26 January 2005
I just recently saw this movie at the Slamdance film festival in Park City, UT this past weekend and it was absolutely hilarious. The lead actor, Chip, had me bent over in my lap from laughing so hard. The experiences that he goes through in the movie are ones that both men and women can relate to. The script and camera techniques are very unique and contribute to the whole experience. I had never heard of John Dowdle before, but he did a great job with this one and obviously has some serious talent. Hopefully this film will be distributed so that everyone will have the opportunity to see this one. Definitely worth while.
