Nowhere (2023)
Survival of the Fittest
I normally don't like these kinds of films but with the plot twist of the rise of right-wing governments in the future and the extreme solution of killing innocent children and pregnant women, it kind of works-- without giving anything away-and for a change the film is set in Spain - not the USA...
The stunning lead actress// character is forced to fend for herself and her baby when she is the lone survivor trapped in a shipping container in the middle of the ocean--reminiscent of "Castaway " and such, she finds a way to stay alive despite the many obstacles that come her way...
Add a star for the baby if you want to!!
Reptile (2023)
Stay with it
You might be surprised- Benicio Del
Toro (did I even spell his name correctly?) plays a straight-laced cop in a corrupt department- that's all I can say about that without spoiling- have fun trying to figure out who the villains are- I am sorry to say that I got it wrong several times-Alicia Silverstone looks kind of frumpy despite her fashionable wardrobe; Justin Timberlake is a snake in this film, a far cry from most of his previous roles ; the rest of the cast is pretty much okay...
Add a star if you love crime drama; detract a star if you don't...or is that backward? I'm obviously tired right now lol so I'm going to sleep.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Klassik & Kampy
Cannot believe it took me so long to watch this film. Why was I afraid? I'm not sure. But I am glad that I finally found the courage to watch Hilarious at times (and very VERY cheesy) , the story is as ludicrous as the acting, but there is something so charming about it that I felt compelled to rate it a seven out of ten stars. Obviously made on a shoestring budget, the film is creative and fun to watch... if only to ridicule the scenes. We laughed so hard that we thought we were going to get sick highly recommended for the retro value of : rotary telephones, cool fashion, make-out alley, "beer" brand of beer, etc.
Bone Cold (2022)
A complete waste of my time
Holy @&$! What a complete waste of time!!
Ukraine // Russian border - ok
Secret Ops - ok
Alien Creature - scary as F and very confusing.
The acting is fine but the story line // plot is not-- WTF??? I get the point of the secret operations and that kind of stuff--what we don't understand is the alien creature and how that fits into the narrative- why oh why did the producer include that sub-plot?? We are still scratching our heads-
I will admit that the alien sub-plot held our interest, though. Beware of the creepy alien and the sounds of the forest- not for the faint of heart (or lungs, intestines, or guts)...
Horizon Line (2020)
Suspenseful and fantastic action scenes
This film takes place in the Indian Ocean tropical paradise and is thrilling once the action gets going. Don't care that it isn't 100% realistic, my heart rate went up and I was totally into the whole story. Acting is great, the special effects are amazing and I recommend it if you like action and romance.
All My Life (2020)
Hang in, it gets better
I kept watching because it is based on a true story and I'm actually glad that I did. As the movie went on, I got pulled into the narrative and found myself getting all the feels. More uplifting than I would have expected and the cast does not disappoint.
Chemi bednieri ojakhi (2017)
Universal Theme but Different Locale
The theme of wanting to find oneself, to be at peace, to be still and hear only the sound of rustling leaves and a neighbor's piano practice... a woman finding her own self causes instability within the family; Beautiful and simple tale of the craziness of longing for personal space in a society that resists the idea that women can exist independently.
