Blood Pageant (2021)
A really fun Christian Horror film
Blood Pageant is an interesting horror film that brings together comedy, thrills and horror. I'm going to get a bit of grief for saying this, but I see it as "Christian Horror". It may seem like a stretch but watch it and you may agree.
I loved the statements that went across the screen as the movie started. They referred to the fact that the fastest growing belief groups are the "none", those with no religious beliefs. Also that new age beliefs may be opening the door to age old demons.
Blood Pageant shows the consequences of toying with forces you don't understand.
I truly enjoyed this movie, I love horror films with both comedy and a touch of camp. Never was it more clear that there is No Reality in Reality TV. We have a fun story here.
Fathers and Sons (2021)
Must not miss!!
When I watched Fathers and Sons for the first time, I didn't know what to expect. I will be honest, I watched it because I'm a fan of Tim Abell and by the end I was blown away. I was in awe of the entire short film. I honestly felt like I was eavesdropping on friends shooting pool in a bar. There was such a natural camaraderie between not just the characters of Tom and Del but between Michael Broderick and Tim Abell. Tyne Stecklein was perfect as Rhonda, she was perfect as not just a waitress/bartender but as someone who has spent time with Tom and Del before. Someone who has heard the stories before.
Huge kudos and praise for Vernon E Mortensen for writing an incredible story that made you a part of the story. Director Ryan Curtis let the friendship of those characters shine and the story shine through. He had the ultimate task of making a short film that felt like a big film and he more than succeeded. Huge shout out to Rachel Wolfgang for his spectacular film editing, it flowed flawlessly.
Last but not least, before this I had no idea who Jack Carr or Terminal List was and now I've more than corrected that.
My suggestion, watch Fathers and Sons and then read the books. You will not regret it
Dick Dickster (2018)
A fun and quirky film
This was such a fun film, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The film is set as a "mockumentary" of Dick Dickster, director of "Cult of Doom". To say that Dick is down on his luck is an understatement but in no way is he a character you feel sympathetic for. Robert Ray Shafer plays the heck out of Dick Dickster, he was incredible right up to the end. I loved Tim Russ as his manager Sammy Davas Jr and was great. It was fun to see him on screen, especially his karaoke scene. Stellar performance from Jared Cohn as Tim Meeks the super fan of Dick Dickster who is filming the Documentary of Dick. Melanie Good and Jan Broberg were great as Hardy Dickster and CoCo Hart respectively. I also really enjoyed Tim Abell as Tony Baritoni, the only "heavy" bringing tons of levity to the film. Kudos to Christopher Ray for directing a really cool and quirky movie.
Oh, loved the cameos from Fred Olen Ray and Richard Grieco
How to Get Rid of a Body (And Still Be Friends) (2018)
Such a fun movie
I loved this movie. It was just pure fun and a little goofiness. It's meant to be fun. The girls had great chemistry and I loved the mob boss and his goons. It almost reminded of just a screwball comedy.
The Special (2020)
Fantastic film
I loved this film from beginning to end. The cast is stellar and what can you say about Harrison Smith, he is an incredible director. I can't wait to watch this again with some of my friends
Zombie with a Shotgun (2019)
What an interesting and amazing film
Zombie With A Shotgun is an incredible film. It mixes everything government/big pharma conspiracy, love, betrayal and of course, Zombies. This is not your typical brain eating, horror film zombies. I loved that it was different, there was an actual story. The mixing of color, black &white and comic book graphics leads to an immersive experience. The drone footage was fabulous and I cannot say enough about the fabulous cast. If you want fresh and innovative, watch this film
MBF: Man's Best Friend (2019)
This movie was incredible
I just had the absolute pleasure of watching this film. The story was incredible, I am an animal lover and supporter of out military veterans and this movie hit home in so many ways.I am in awe of DJ Perry, as both the lead character (Paul Lansing) and the writer of this film, in both regards he is brilliant. The cast was amazing, Shane Hagedorn as Deputy Palmer, Don Most as Ian Tapper, Melissa Anschutz as Lisa Bixby and Anthony Hornus as Glenn. Also kudos to Mr Hornus for also directing this fabulous cast. Last but not least Tim Abell as Robert Landings; he never ceases to amaze me. Tim is a powerful actor who makes you feel everything his character portrays.
Please this movie is amazing and I hope you watch it and love it as much as I did
Whiteblood (2017)
Definitely a must see film
What an amazing movie! Kudos to Ben Butler for creating such incredible characters and directing this fantastic movie. Tim Abell does a tremendous job bringing Abraham to life. He walks a fine line in creating a character that is both a ruthless drug kingpin, a man who is no stranger to violence. He also realistically gives Abraham a loving and caring side when it comes to a puppy he receives.
J. R. Villarreal is sensational as Rico, a young man forced to turn to picking up and delivering cocaine in order to earn money to pay for his mother's cancer treatment.
The entire movie carries you along to an ending that will leave you stunned. An ending that has you ready to watch Whiteblood one more time.
Swivel Shot (2016)
A powerful short film.
I will admit that I am a huge fan of the writer/director Christopher Glatis and one of the actors. I became aware of the talent and brilliance of Chris because of his previous films Dose of Reality and Call Back. Chris has taken a 15 minute short film and packed it with more emotion than a 2 hour movie. He is a man on a mission with this Film.
The film revolves around two police officers and what becomes of a day that should be beautiful. The police officers are played by Jacqueline Pinol and Rick Ravanello and they are flawless in their portrayals. They are beyond believable in this film. You can see it in their eyes, their words and their actions on screen. They bring Christopher's words to life. Rick and Jacqueline shine in this film.
I cannot tell you enough how this film will affect you. Please, check it out, it's available on YouTube.
The Hunt (2016)
An incredible short film.
This is an amazing short film. It centers around a hunter convincingly portrayed by Rick Ravanello. The film takes place during a hunting trip that takes you on a journey of twists and turns. I love that even though this is a short film, you do not get short changed on anything; the storyline, the make up, the scenery or the direction. I find myself watching this film again and again. I love the acting, the story and the beauty of the scenery.
Devil's Whisper (2019)
An amazing film that may surprise you
Devil's Whisper is a film that will impress you. The film is an incredible blend of drama and horror. I love that the horror aspect of this film adds to the storyline instead of distracting from it. You will be impressed by the acting from Luca Oriel, he portrays Alex with skill beyond his years. Alison Fernandez as Alicia is amazing. She absolutely will knock your socks off. The character of Father Cutler could have been a character that was not important, used for comic relief. Instead Rick Ravanello makes Father Cutler a source of guidance for Alex in what becomes a battle for his soul. Please, this film will not disappoint you, it's all here, the acting, the story and the music. I loved it!
