Sin City (2005)
You have never seen a movie quite like this before!
This movie rocked. It is a sheer master piece visually and this is complimented by a sinister, dark score. The acting is superb all round from the all-star cast. Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and Bruce Willis were especially great.
The movie looks like its directly out of the comic book. Never before has anyone achieved such a comic like adaptation. It keeps a certain comic book quality which I can't quite put my finger on.
As good as it is Sin City at times is a bit hard to take seriously with a lot of drastically unrealistic set pieces coming out of no-where. But it achieves a tense atmosphere when needed.
This movie is hilariously funny with out really trying too hard. The delivery if classic lines is impeccable.
If you don't mind a lot of hardcore violence you should definitely see this movie ASAP. I guarantee you will never have seen a movie quite like it before... ever.
Tommy Tiernan: A Little Cracked (2004)
Irelands Bill Hicks!!!
Tommy Tiernan's a little cracked is a hilarious collection of inter weaving story's performed by the most energetic of Irish comic's Tommy Tiernan. Right from the word go he sets the stage a light with his razer sharp wit, uncanny impersonations and ingenious satire. Buyer beware if you are easily offended as he can be construed as being quite vulgar but other wise its all good. I would recommend this DVD to anyone especially anyone who knows Ireland otherwise a lot of the jokes would be lost on you but still he has proved himself to an international audience in Montreal at the just for laughs festival where he received a standing ovation for his hilarious act.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Tarantino is well and truly back!!!
I saw "Kill Bill" on the opening night in my local cinema and walked out with my jaw on the ground, my hair standing on end and completely speechless. I can say nothing good about that movie that wouldn't be a complete understatement The sound track as usual for Tarantino's movies is second to none from start to finish even if you don't like the movie(Which you would have to be retarded not to) you still have a fantastic sound track to listen to.
Tarantino's love of Hong Kong cinema and kung fu movies shines through clearly in this movie and for fellow fans of the genre its a fitting homage to them.
If you haven't seen it make sure u do asap you will not regret it
