Time Trap (2017)
Wasted potential, horrible dialogue
You can't really talk about spoilers for this movie: The title of the film, combined with the clearly underlined "hints" at the beginning, already reveal everything. Video recordings as plot tools are lazy solutions. The dialogue is like Scooby-Do. It is a great pity that a good concept has been wasted in this way. I don't think Time Trap is worth watching, but it has its moments.
X: First Class (2011)
An indifferent film that has enjoyable moments but something is missing
At some points, quite an entertaining movie, but something was still missing. Despite the experienced actors, the performance was at times tougher than in any school play. The script wasn't quite the worst in this film series, but still quite childish. The beginning of the film was jumping and there were too many unnecessary sidelines. Somehow I enjoyed the camp spirit of the 60s, with James Bond or Batman vibes. However, it alone did not support the film very far.
The World's End (2013)
An excellent film in its genre
This movie was an enjoyable viewing experience. Reliving the adventures of youth as a middle-aged was a topic that appealed to me. The film is aptly absurd, and many are sure to be entertained by the numerous martial arts scenes. In my opinion, there could have been about 75% fewer fights and the movie would still have worked. I liked the first two parts of the "movie trilogy" more, but this one was good too.
The acting work was solid. Although Nick Frost's character was too serious for my taste - I want my Nick Frost to be a goofy! An excellent film in its genre, to which, scaled to all the films in the world, I give it seven stars, meaning a "pleasant viewing experience".
Joker (2019)
A good movie about evil and injustice
First of all, I have to admit that I really wanted to like this movie. Based on preliminary information, I knew what to expect from Joker. The finest aspect of the film is how justifiable the protagonist's sick actions might seem to be - the internal logic of the film works. The protagonist is sick and does bad deeds. In the end there will be no teaching or enlightenment(, in the end this is no fairy tale of Aesop). This is the story of how evil gains power from injustice, without justifying evil deeds.
My own movie taste is in a slightly lighter direction than Joker. Also, at least one scene in the movie is unnecessarily violent, so I couldn't say I enjoyed the movie all the time. I understand Joker's high star ratings well, but I personally can't give it more than 8 stars, which on my scale means "a pretty good movie".
