The Hateful Eight (2015)
Big Disappointment!
Seeing such a good a rating gave me hope that the show would be good. As I was watching it I kept hoping that it would get better but it never did. After watching this I was highly disappointed with the show and wanted those three hours back. I feel there were so many plot holes. Why didn't so and so just do X? It basically devolved into a pointless blood bath.
Unless you are a fan of Tarantino I would suggest you find another movie that has greater depth to it or is just fun and entertaining to watch because this movie has neither quality. Do not be looking for some Shakespearian level quality in this movie.
The Diplomat (2023)
Great story with dialog dressed in bar room gutter
I really like the premise of this show. The plot development is good. It isn't stale or too predictable. For the most part the dialog is witty.
The biggest problem I have with Netflix in general is that everything is effing this and effing that. Are the writers still in high school? I have worked at a national lab for 40 years and can count on my hands the number of times I've heard people swearing. It is just rare. People treat others with respect. Maybe these writers don't have that opportunity in their workplace. This gutter talk is something I'd find in a bar. I don't know. Maybe all these top level politicians talk like this more than just in their bedrooms. It is just so gauche and unrealistic. Purely done for shock value.
The Diplomat: The James Bond Clause (2023)
Kate turned into a hysterical rube
Twice in this episode Kate decided to be a complete imbecile. First with Hal she completely loses it like a moron. She doesn't take time to ask questions and reflect. Then with the foreign minister she walks away like a petulant high school girl and makes him chase her down. Most of her antics seemed palatable and in line with a slightly high strung individual but these two were just way over the top.
While she can be a non standard Ambassador she still has to be somewhat believable. By in large I was impressed by the dialog and the character development. There is a depth to the conversations that let's the watcher in on the intricacies of the situations.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Mediocre plot and abysmal dialog
The first warning sign that a movie night be less than great is when you have 30 f-words in the first 5 min. If the best they can do to produce in their warped thinking 'a realistic' movie is to fill it with vulgarity then watch out. Or maybe the writers have Tourette syndrome. Who knows?
There were several places where the plot started to go sideways and I was wondering how they were going to resurrect it. I made it through but just barely.
Another Life (2019)
Impossible to watch without Vidangel.com
This gutter language must be how people talk in Hollyweird. Never hear this kind of language having worked 30 years in a professional environment at a National Lab. Be interesting to see if most astronauts talk this way. Ha!
Black Mirror: Fifteen Million Merits (2011)
Please stop!
Long, drawn out, and boring. I couldn't wait for it to be over. How did this show make it 5 seasons? I just can't do any more.
Black Mirror: The National Anthem (2011)
Unconvincing!
The acting on this was not believable. The plot had potential but it was treated poorly in this show.
Defending Jacob: Everything Is Cool (2020)
I can't do it! This is to ridiculous.
In the first 5 minutes the ADA says "This is not a credible accusation." Oh so, let's continue to hold to the ridiculous position that this is not a conflict of interest. No, I'm sorry. I can't go on with this.
It doesn't even work to have the ADA be guilty of the crime because his son admits to owning a knife. So even if the ADA and his son aren't guilty then that leaves him as a crappy ADA who won't cut the mustard as a protagonist.
Defending Jacob: Pilot (2020)
Seriously! How did he get to be an ADA?
The show was going great until the ADA touched possible EVIDENCE! Seriously. That just about ruins it for me. I'm going to try another episode but that is very disappointing. If he doesn't immediately recuse himself and turn in potential evidence in the next episode then it is just a dirty ADA trying to cover things up. How is that going to make a good show?
Mr. Robot (2015)
Disappointing
I'm seeing reviews how this "seems so real". Really?! Okay, so they throw out a few terms about Hacking and people get all excited. The plot line on this is so thin in places you can practically see the other side. It has a few places where you think it might get interesting and then they just blow it. What a complete waste of time.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Seriously!
Really. Episode 6 is so stupid. Jack Ryan the analyst gets into a fist fight. So totally believable. Idiot drone pilot goes to Syria. Whatever!
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Let the morons all die!
Seriously! There are so many plot fails. For example when Thanos is battling Iron Man why not just turn all his missiles into bubbles like you did with Quill's gun?
Everyone wants to save everyone and in the end they lose most of them. Awesome! They got exactly what they deserved.
They say they want to stop trillions from dying but then make stupid decisions.
Loki what the heck. Let's just hand over the tesseract. You barely care for anyone anyway, so why get mushy now.
Gamora should have committed suicide before her sister was tortured. She wanted to die anyway.
Gamora should have let her sister die rather than just handing over the location.
They almost get the glove off and Quill goes all stupid and punches Thanos. Yes, the world is about to end so let's do stupid stuff. Thank heavens he dies.
Dr. Strange should have let Iron Man die but would rather let millions die. Good choice. And then he dies.
Vision wanted to die but no one would destroy the stone. He dies anyway. Twice actually.
It's brilliant. All these smart people doing stupid stuff. You can't even explain their behavior by pulling the "morally right" card because there are only a couple heroes that fit that bill.
Watch the movie for the special effects because there isn't much plot to speak of.
The Blacklist: Ivan (No. 88) (2014)
Dumb!
1. A top secret project would never be transported in a civilian car! Really!
2. Oh let's just ask the perp his name when you're yards down the hall. Hopefully you knew his picture already dorks!
3. Oh yeah let's turn on one light post at a time. Yeah that is totally possible.
4. Hey you think we should turn the sirens on whenever we're going to nab him? He'll never figure it out.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Oh please spare me the agony!
Superman's death is the best thing that happened to this movie! What a load of crap. It had promise at one point and then it too died a horrible death. Good riddance.
Polar (2019)
Netflix is so predictable
Do they use the same tired directors for all their films? Okay, I liked Mads which is why it got three stars. With most Netflix movies the script writers must have come from the gutter since their vocabulary doesn't extend much beyond cuss words. Even with my low standards for Netflix, I was hopeful for more.
The Shannara Chronicles: Amberle (2017)
One more pathetic episode
Wil is still an idiot. Amberly made the noble choice to save the Four Lands. Wil loved Amberly so much he would have sacrificed the Four Lands just to have her like his dead Uncle Flick. Really?
The Shannara Chronicles: Warlock (2017)
Cheesy!
Wil - "Every time I try to do the right thing" Seriously, Wil, you're lame.
The Shannara Chronicles (2016)
Season 1 not bad but don't bother with Season 2
There were a few questionable places in season 1 where you are really struggling whether the character was believable. Season 2 has suffered from some very bad writing especially the Crimson episode. Just say No.
The Shannara Chronicles: Crimson (2017)
Absolute Garbage!
This has to be the worst written episode ever. Is Wil a complete moron? Let's destroy all of humanity to save worthless Uncle Flick. How is that even believable? A child must have written this script it is so awful. There is no creativity and you'd need to be a vegetable yourself not to see through such a weak, self-serving plot. Complete trash.
How It Ends (2018)
Netflix - get a clue
Does saying the F-word somehow make your movie better? All your movies and TV shows are that way. Even Hollywood's good movies don't throw it around the way you do. Maybe that is how you folks talk but get a clue.
