The Leftovers (2014)
Not as good as Mom's
The Leftovers should have been tossed out with the spoiled tomatoes from last week. Like the characters' lives, it shows no purpose, no entertaining value. I was bored two scenes after the opening of episode one. Not only bored but annoyed by giving high-schoolers so much time on film when nothing about their activities relates to the titled idea presented. Most teens probably behave this way even without 2% of the world vanishing. It's a shame that an idea with so much promise has to stoop to petty plots. I was hoping for the aftermath of the event, but they merely slide a tiny piece in every now and then. So far, it's a waste of time and effort. HBO is known for innovated stories and series. Maybe we should be given the original dish and lose the Leftovers.
Elementary (2012)
Lucy LuLu
What happened to the elements established in season one? For some reason, Watson has now become as clever if not more clever than Sherlock. That is totally wrong on all levels! Season Two has weak mysteries and now Doc Wat seems to have all the perspective, leaving Sherlock to pick up the pieces. What a big disappointment. Season One had all the ingredients for a thrilling mystery. Sherlock was Sherlock: egotistical, biting and sarcastic but very clever in solving crimes. This year I have to make myself watch it, in hope that something interesting will happen. But, of course, not to worry, lackluster Lucy will always have the answer and the personal touch. What a waste of time and the demise of a good show. Get rid of Lucy. At least lower her involvement in actually solving the cases.
Unforgettable (2011)
Forgettable
Unforgettable has lost season one's intrigue and cast. The dynamics no longer work. Everything centers around Poppy. Pretty but not the best actress in the world. Her depth is weak and emotions, responses typical. Even story lines lack luster. Sure they have new props and technical gadgets, but so what..everyone does these days. Enjoyed first season. They had interplay with all the cast, not just her. The stories were more intense and showed a sense of drama. Of course, I liked Jane Curtain in SNL, who didn't? Liked her in season one, but she is stale and predictable as well this time round. The rest of the characters exist without existing. I have no idea who or what they are. I was looking forward to watching this year's shows. The idea was and is intriguing, but ideas without depth become boring and ...forgettable.
