The Gentlemen (2019)
Not everything as it apears
A film is a director's blank canvas to tell a story and that is exactly what this film is, a story in the making. Pull up a chair, sit back and get comfortable as the story is about to begin. The opening of the film starts as we meet the storyteller himself, Hugh Grant's character Fletcher. It might be a bit slow for some but I implore you to watch on as the pace really does ramp up. This film really does have a star studded cast, and they are all fantastic.
Every time you think you have an idea where the story is going it changes up on you. Almost very Oceans 11 style, these guys are criminals at the top of their game but damn they make it look so good. Suits, Guns and drugs, is there a better combination? The Modern day Gangstas.
The Terminal (2004)
An all time favorite.
This for me is a Christmas classic (yes I consider it a christmas film) and to be honest with you, it's one of my favorites. Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on a true story of a man stuck in an airport terminal for 18 years. Might sound impossible but in 1988 exactly that happened.
This is for sure a feel good film, but to get to that happy place you have to travel on a roller coaster of emotions. This film will take you through it all, comedy, romance and you might even shed a tear or two at the end. You're here for the journey and will experience it all with our main character Victor as he tries to get by in an unprecedented situation, without being able to speak a word of english. So sit back and relax as this is a slower paced film, but one you will become invested in. Perfect for those cozy nights on the sofa, whilst the snow falls and the fire Roars.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
A fun, emotonal, feel good film.
The title sums this film up pretty well, "Crazy, Rich, Asians".
I can assure you this film contains all of the above and more so. The extravagance of a billionaire family, the houses, the cars, the style and oh throw in a love story to boot. I quite enjoyed this film as it wasn't the typical love story. It had a bit of everything, love, drama, comedy and to be honest I think a lot of people can relate (well not the billionaire part). The terror of meeting your partners parents for the first time. Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) has to deal with a family that thinks she is not good enough for their son.
I find myself coming back to this film regularly as it's just so fun and a little bit emotional, but that might just be me. Everything in this film is so beautiful, the outfits, the sets and don't even get me started on the wedding (but whose I wonder). All I'll say is Kina Grannis' rendition of "I can't help falling in love" is genuinely spine tingling.
To summarize, a very fun and enjoyable feel good film with a bit of everything. Might just be one of my favorites.
Last Christmas (2019)
Not you're traditonal christmas film
I personally think this film received a lot of unfair criticism. Many people have longed for something different, a christmas film that strayed away from the standard meet a guy, fall in love and a fun christmas miracle to finish. To start with I thought we were heading down the same road, but... I was pleasantly surprised (if you can say that). Some viewers might have clocked something was a bit fishy earlier in the film, personally I was too invested and assumed Emilia Clarke's character Kate was just losing the plot. The big reveal at the end might bring a tear to those of you that break easily, but one of those happy tears accompanied by that big smile as you see Kate grows as a person. The close might anger some people but you might be taking the film too seriously, relax. Channel a bit of Christmas magic and enjoy this film for being that little bit different. I enjoyed this film and I hope you do too.
The Imagineering Story (2019)
Fall in love all over again
The first episode its self just makes you fall in love with Disney all over again no matter how old you are. Its unreal what had gone into disney and you see it all in the series. This is truly a behind the scenes look at all things Disney and I have enjoyed every moment of it so far.
