Blithe Spirit (2020)
Promising comedy which doesnt know what it wants
The hook is of course the ladies and them being overly sexualisied. Lets get this straight out at the beginning.
The movie begins with a promising plot but despite the actors being very good and on point, the dialog and the script starts to make no sense at about half in the movie. From there on its just a cringe-fest after another.
The end is highly disappointing and you feel rather miserable than delighted or entertained.
Overal it seemed like a student project copying some old movie (which I think they really did a remake of that movie) and then tried to make a new version WITHOUT maintaining the soul and the spark of the movie. It feels like very bad writting and the actors tried to do the best with it. Which they really did. But no actor in the world can substitute just a horrible script or bad dialog.
Monster Hunter (2020)
This movie is a mess
This is probably Mila's worst movie.
She cant happen to find one decent script no matter what she does.
First of: The logic:
Marines shoot first and ask later. They act like dump lunatics. Nothing they do make sense, its like watching a horror movie and one guy says he is checking the basement and you are like "Oh god, ok he is dead next!". They are in no threat but as soon as some stranger appears on the top of a cliff, they start yelling "ENEMY!" and start shooting! Like why? What is wrong with you?
Mila has to yell "ceasefire" multiple time until those lunatics stop shooting for no reason.
Dialog: They are talking out what you as spectator are thinking, which is utterly annoying and lets you think they make everything as if even a 10 year old needs to understand what is going on right now.
She is asking:"What is this thing?" Obviously nobody knowing an answer to that.
Someone saying out loud:"What happened to them?" Nobody obviously knowing an answer to that.
Camera cuts: You know they had to fake action scenes when there are a lot of cuts and this movie has thousand of cuts. They do that when the actors dont have the physical ability to perform in the action scenes believable. So they do a lot of cuts so they can cut out the parts where you see their performance is not meeting the performance a soldier or marine should have in that situation.
Its a mess and it hurts your eye. You cant follow propery. You feel like being in a club with an stroboscope.
Timeline: 30minutes in the movie and the plot can be written down on one page A6 letter.
Nothing, no story, no plot really, just brainless action, like a splatter movie where the victim runs from a to bo to c just to escape the killer and you have no idea why and whats going on.
Man of Steel (2013)
Znyder's attempt to make a movie with most fails ever!
Znyder did it again. He took a great comic story and sold it's soul to create a soulless and utterly flawed movie. This movie has so many and huge logical fails that even a 6year old would notive them. There is even a review here on imdb that tries to count them and I can remember the number beeing somewhere in the 80's.
I am a huge superman fan and I know some of the comics so I have a biased opinion of course. As others here already mentioned if you dont know superman for long or the comics you probably will love this action movie. But if you do know him and his comics you will be disappointed to the fullest!
The story is falsified and there are so many unlogical scenes where you think you sit in a B-class movie with a good special effect budget!
TL;DR then just search for "Everything Wrong With Man Of Steel In 8 Minutes Or Less" on youtube! (it sums up everything and every review here)
Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2017)
Some animes should be converted into a real movie - this one shows why!
I have to say that converting an anime into a real movie is one of the hardest things to do. But when you do you have to change also the mood and emotions cause if you import them 1:1 your protagonist will look like a douchy braggart. Facial expressions in animes are one of the most iconic things and very important sometimes but when in real life someone glances at you in a condescending and arrogant way not even the nicest person will be convincing! Whereas in an anime it's common that protagonists do that you will feel external shame if your hero does that. Let me also take as example the first 5 minutes of the movie (no spoiler). The first scenes with his mother seems so disconcerting and disconnected I dont know who approved them. You cant see the mothers face, you cant tell what they are feeling and you cant tell any emotion in this 5 minutes. It's like someone has taken every emotion out of a scene and made it suitable for a rational computer to watch and enjoy. If you will watch the scene you might understand what I mean.
After all I would love to see a "all in one" anime movie for this franchise but this one here failed. It feels like a game developing company went out to create a movie from the story of Max Payne, oh wait a minute, someone really did that and we can see the outcome! Im sorry for all the FMA fans cause this anime is really good and very unique, also I bet the intentions of the movie-maker were really sincere but it's like you wish for a childhood were you eat sweets everyday but not consider that when you grew up you lost all your teeth and have diabetes stage 3!
The really and only amazing thing in this movie are the special effects. They are state of the art and really well made though!
