Car Crazy (2003)
Mix of Nostalgia and Contemporary automotive appreciation
It's nice that the product behind the program (Meguiars Car Care products) isn't rammed down the viewer's throat...they tactfully wait for the commercial interruptions. "Car Crazy" relies on a pure format and remains true to its title, unlike a lot of other automotive programs, which are thinly-veiled infomercials, punctuated by what else? More advertisements!! Ironic, because it is sponsored by the company which bears the host's family name. As for the show's host, he's also the Meguiars company's front man. He seems quite taken by both his subject matter and his interviewees. But I often get the impression that his up close and personal guests are about to get molested on camera (very touchy-feely). I don't watch Car Crazy much anymore, mainly because the host creeps me out.
Graveyard Carz (2011)
Tedious, boring, non-entertainment, no value for car enthusiasts...pass this garbage up!!
If you like TV episodes centered on narcissistic, obnoxious, jerky people, then you'll crave "Graveyard Carz" (dumb title, by the way). And the title seemingly has nothing to do with the actual show because I have yet to be able to sit through a full episode and know what car they are actually working on. This is one of those reality show gambles that has no perceptible purpose. The Velocity network has apparently bought into this direction-less boondoggle of a car show, hoping that somehow we will become enraptured by the personal travails of this windbag Worman and his hopelessly uninteresting cohorts. I have absolutely zero fascination with "Mr. Tough Guy" as he likes to have himself portrayed...haven't we seen enough of this crap with who knows how many years of past Teutel drama? My advice to Graveyard Carz is to dig a hole (preferably 6 feet deep) and fall in it permanently!
