The Map of Tiny Perfect Things (2021)
Bilge
Fake. Empty. Lifeless. Dumb. Not a single redeeming quality.
The Naked Mile (2006)
Simply not funny
Things could not get any worse after AP4 is what I thought. I was wrong. This one is worse and by a big margin. I can remember a laugh or two in the previous one. (I loved American Pie 1. 2 was OK and three was OK.)There simply is not one funny scene in the whole movie. The only character remaining from the previous series, is Eugene Levy (Jim's father) and his is really only a cameo appearance. The highlights are the few scenes you see boob. Apart from that there is not a single redeeming feature in the entire movie. Whatever jokes there are so "signalled", corny, stereotypical or just plain not funny. EVEN if you like this kind of movie (as I do). Liked Porky when I was 12 years old. Liked AP1. Basically even if you are into coming of age movies this will suck and be a wast of money and time.
Don't say I did not warn you. So don't go and watch it in case you think.."Well this guy obviously does not have a sense of humor or a different kind of humor" The only way I could watch this movie again would be a Clockwork Orange style with the little springs that force your eyes open. One has to type in a hell of lot of text just to write your comments for this movie here at IMDb. But I could have summarized the whole movie in just three words "Simply not funny".
Sling Blade (1996)
Not bad but I can't understand the rave reviews
Billy Bob's intelligence is visible all the time and especially as the movie progresses (Not sure he is playing a retard....) He is not at all convincing to me, as John Malcovich is as a retard in of Mice and Men.
And the plot was just so predictable for me that I could not enjoy it. I should never have checked the rating here before I saw the movie...because I was expecting a masterpiece. Instead I saw a mediocre movie and a mediocre story.
The boy in the movie is also visibly acting, but that can be forgiven. All in all not a movie I'll want to see again anytime soon. Even Robert Duvall in his Cameo role disappointed.
It was good seeing J.T. Walsh in some role other than bad guy or general and doing a good job acting as well. And John Ritter was pretty good as well. RIP both of you..you guys died far to young.
Cellular (2004)
If you have nothing to do...this might just hold your attention long enough.
the acting pretty much sucked (apart from William H. Macy and Rick Hoffman (I)). But the story stays fresh enough to hold one's attention as long as you are not in too critical a mode. I've never noticed Rick Hoffman in any movie before, but he was very funny as a cocky lawyer( deserves bigger roles) The plot is pretty interesting, slightly spoiled by some completely unbelievable incidents (for me at least, since I am technically minded) my wife for instance did not complain. The movie felt decidedly like a B movie, mostly because you get the feeling that it was rushed and not enough attention to acting details. Cellular was just not convincing enough to be a good movie. But it was interesting enough to remember, hence this commentary.
My advice, don't go see it in a theater, just wait until it comes out on DVD.
White Chicks (2004)
Great fun, if you are in the right mood.
As you can see by looking at the other comments. You'll either love it or hate it. The problem is if someone is going to tell you it's a great flick....chances are you won't like it, because you've got on your thinker or critic's hat on.
I went into the movie thinking : "This is gonna suck!." And therefore I approached it as just a little light entertainment.
Because of the excellent latino interpretation the Wayan brothers did in the beginning, and the Schwarzenegger accent of the icecream delivery guy ..the mood was set..I had a big smile on my face...which remained on my face for the rest of the movie...only to be interrupted by bursts of loud laughter. My wife and I laughed so loud in some parts of the movie...the bed shook..I have to admit we both haven't laughed at a movie so loud for a long ...long time. The humour is definitely on a teenage level, but I refuse to let that get in the way of a good laugh. a Lot of people might find some of the stuff too offensive for their kids to see. But I actually found it good clean humour and would easily let my 7 and 8 year old boys watch it.
Fringe : Terry Crew is definitely the man of the match!!!! (So to speak...) His facial expressions alone, are worth seeing the movie for.
Conclusion : All in all this could be a fun movie if you are in the right mood. Enjoyment rating 8/10 Plot 0/10
