Review from "Reel Tunez... The Radio Show All About the Movies"
Reel Tunez Movie Review (5/20/24): "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes".
Checking in at 2 1/2 hours, you certainly get your money's worth.
Most of the stars of this movie aren't recognizable by looks or by voice (except William H. Macy), but the digital animation and mapping.. and scenes were very convincing.
The movie has a slow start to it, but after the first half hour things start to pick. It's sort of like a long lift up to the top of a roller coaster. Once you're over the top, things become a lot more interesting. I want to be careful to not give spoilers, but let's just say this probably will NOT be the last of the "Apes" movies by any stretch of the imagination.
The story was very good.. the effects and digital animation convincing.. and it was interesting. I enjoyed it and will probably see it again (especially on a big screen).
On a 1-10 scale, I'd give it a 6.4 (keeping in mind that I say anything below a 5 has no value in seeing and anything above a 5 is worth the time. I reserve 8, 9 and definitely 10 rating only for the very incredible movies! A good movie is in the 6's.. and a VERY good movie is in the 7's. So, this is a 6.4.. and a fun movie to see.
