Frequency (2016)
First/Second episode surprisingly good
Being from the CW I expected to only watch half of it before changing the channel. Happily surprised I watched the whole episode and enjoyed it. Not so happy that it's a reboot...can't anyone come up with an original story anymore? That aside the show is well cast and acted (though a 28 year old Homicide Detective is a tough pill to swallow, technically possible, but extremely unlikely). The first episode has some serious twists, usually the type of stuff that would develop over an entire season. Hopefully they didn't put everything into the first episode and nothing into the rest of the season. It will be interesting to see if they can continue this caliber of a performance. Here's hoping.
Second episode kept pace, though not quite as dramatic, but within expectations.
The Bastard Executioner (2015)
Lots of Promise, No Delivery
High production values and top notch settings and stages advertise this drama with high hopes. Unfortunately, there's also a story and acting to contend with. The sets are great, movie worthy and the makeup and wardrobe are almost always top notch (except for the cross on the face...it's not a spoiler, you can see it in trailers) and the very last scene (extremely unrealistic).
Other than that, everything else is terrible. Violence for the sake of violence, no point other than to be graphic. On top of that is violence taken to a point that even movie channels like HBO and Game of Thrones won't go to for nothing more than shock value. Violence against children, for no reason, and even violence against babies, again purely for shock value. A full cast of supporting actors, which only proves to show why they were supporting actors in the first place (a notable exception is Matthew Rhys, a great lead actor, cast here in a minor cameo almost, at least for the first episode). A story that trips all over itself and writing that is bland, boring, slow and just plain mean for no reason almost all of the time.
This is just the first episode, but at full movie length, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the series. Here's hoping it gets better, without much actual hope that it will.
Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
One of the worst movies ever.
The people that made this did bad.
They should feel bad.
Unbelievable story, logic flaws, improbable scenarios, bad acting.
It's insulting to the the United States Military, Secret Service and all the good men and women that serve.
Save two hours of your life doing something better than watching this excrement on film.
Unfortunately this site requires 10 lines for a review, so the rest will just be gibberish in order to simulate the plot of this movie.
Blah, blah, blah...BOOM....LOTS OF BULLETS...more blah.
