Last Exile (2003)
Very nice drawings supported by a nice "chess-game-like" plot
28 October 2005
First, heads-off for the beautiful graphic scenery proposed by the authors. Regardless of the TV/Video set that you'll use to go through the 26 episodes of "Last Exile" series, you ought to be amazed with the excellent quality of the graphic design, the advanced & thoughtful choices of the universe that has been created here. Honestly, it is worth watching that series just for the graphic sake of it.

Besides, the story, though it might be a bit "already seen before" is pretty easy to follow and won't let you down. It depicts a war times between 2 conflicting races that are indeed both under the control of a 3rd species called "The Guild".

Though the characters are a bit "simples" in their definition (this is where you realized that this series was aimed at young people), it is a 8 out 10 animated series that you want to watch.

She Hate Me (2004)
4/10
A good start that won't last
7 August 2005
Starting plot is interesting & attractive : you can see a successful & handsome black man caught into a political glitch in 1 of these multi-national companies. In parallel, he's caught by his former girlfriend who appears to be a more dangerous shark than the main character colleagues at work.

... And then, the movie in unable to move on...

... The end is proposing a conclusion that is absolutely MILES AWAY from sharp & imaginative conclusion, not any hint of the usual Spike's mind-blowing vision on nowadays difficulty for minority men & women to emerge in our societies...

... Just a pity to see Spike Lee's talent absolutely wasted in that movie.

Perhaps he really needed to make some bucks ? Who knows...

Twisted (I) (2004)
5/10
far below quality of classic "Seven" movie
8 November 2004
I have to admit that seeing Andy Garcia AND Samuel Jackson on that type of movie is a good way to tease our attention !

Well, the truth is, no actor in that movie are performing better than a 5 out of 6, very likely because those same actors must have felt that the movie was just an average one when they shot it... Scenario could have been interesting but truly, the trap in which the scenarist want us to go into is just so obvious...

... So yes, you'll watch the movie till the end and yes, you might be surprised of the ending but when credits will appear, I bet that you'll think that this was a movie that you will soon forget...

... unlike "SEVEN" !!!
