Great Show
It's unfortunate because MOST of the critiques are: cinematography, bad acting, and cheap settings. Those things have NOTHING to do with the craft of the show, I'm learning that some people have no respect for artistry. Artistry comes in a variety of forms, and granted if the execution was not up to par then that's rightfully understandable but minor things like a budget should be forgivable!
Personally the show did fall flat in some areas but where it fell flat it was enhanced in other areas. I understand how shows operate in respect to deadlines, budgets, production constraints, and writers. My guess is the writers are different from season 1 than in season 2( that's where the actors fell off quite a bit) but we were introduced to so MANY beautiful people that uplifted the plot and demanded the viewer to continue watching!
Season 4 was GREAT because who doesn't want to see the people you have been rooting for to win, however the last episode was TRASH. I
bienged this entire show so it was definitely worth it and I am just sad to see all the characters go :(
Last but not least for the people who don't understand collectivism vs individualism which this show reveals at the core of its existence you are showing your PRIVILEGE! There are comments literally saying the Offshore is understandable, yet it proves to be unethical!!! I don't want to assume they're Americans but I'm sure they're Americans! Our beautiful country doesn't believe in COLLECTIVISM it's just about self advancement and division. Regardless of what kind of society you come from 3% though a fiction storyline reflects real ideologies and practices throughout every neo-civilization.
This show just reveals history and karma always come full circle.
Goldie (2019)
Reminded me of Spike Lee Film
The reason I felt inclined to leave a review is because this movie was beautifully shot. I don't know much about the time and effort it takes to man such a cinematic masterpiece, however the different angles, music, focused lenses, filters and transitions took TIME! This movie was beautiful, and I think unless you grew up watching black films it would seem very distant. Yet, the colors and vibrancy and textures throughout each scene spoke to the intensity of the character Goldie. An 18 year old who lost everything, even at the end for her to look in the camera it was like she was speaking to the audience. This movie wasn't just shot in the third person but in first person as well. It's soo many layers to this movie and unless you seek to learn something or seek to understand there won't be a transversal connection to the film. It's definitely not a film that is rushed so sit back and let the whimsical soul grasping movie unwind itself.
