Anaganaga Oka Ammayi (1999)
A good tale portrayed in a mediocre way.
Story takes off as a typical 90's Telugu movie, an unemployed gold medalist and friends searching for jobs. Things take a turn when the lead actor Vishnu (Srikanth) suddenly comes across with a pager, whenever it rings Vishnu talks to an unknown girl(so as the title). The other 3 friends being suspicious about the pager try to know about the whereabouts but in vain.
Vishnu who also is a mimicry artist was bestowed with a chance to showcase his talent. After the program when the pager rings again and Vishnu makes a call to the number, it is attended by sandhog(Soundarya) the mistress in the same house a cliffhanger for the audience and intermission begins.
The second half starts with the flashback of what has happened and where did Vishnu stumble upon the pager. Satya(Abbas) who is the lover of sandhog lives with his mother and is a happy family until his mother has a heart attack and gets admitted in the hospital and has to go through the bi-pass surgery which is pretty much costly for a upcoming engineer(sat ya) and his soon to be wife sandhog. Luckily he gets help from Bhavani Prasad who is the chairman of the both the company in which sandhog works and the hospital where Satya's mother is being treated. Story takes a turn when Bhavani Prasad asks Sandhya to act as his wife for sometime so that his mother can recover from her health condition. Satya gratefully agrees to the contract and sandhog agrees too forcefully. Later sat ya helps Vishnu in his struggling time but unfortunately dies saving Vishnu from an uncontrolled truck.
So coming back to the current time Vishnu mimics as sat ya and talks to sandhog so that she wouldn't know the truth of sat ya's unfortunate demise. The story unfolds and Vishnu talking as sat ya says things and does things so as that sandhog gets irritated by the behavior of sat ya. Eventually Bhavani Prasad's mother knows the truth and marries both his son and sandhog to show their thankfulness to sandhog who has sacrificed so much for her family and there ends the plot. pros : the story line is quite good. The lead actor Srikanth's performance. Screenplay is also good. The flashback episode well portrayed on the screen in a simple way but is a strong backbone of the story. Cons: The two and half hour long cinema lacks the comic touch. Songs are average and are placed in areas where there is no requirement for the songs which is the fault of the director who has to adjust these aspects. Music though composed by the veteran Mani Sharma is mediocre. The climax too can also be written in a different way rather than portraying Vishnu as a villain and ending the story in a negative way.
Overall a one time watch movie
