All the Light We Cannot See (2023)
Worthy but too limited
As a series it was quite good, but it lacks the Character development that won the novel a. Pulitzer. Making this a four-part series, is too Limited for breadth of the story. The cinematography is excellent. The acting admirable. Though, one should never compare film to an original book, it's somewhat difficult not to notice how much of the story is left out that demonstrates the struggle the two primary characters go through. It saddens me that the focus is almost entirely on the end of the story alone. However, for anyone not having read the book, this series definitely stands on its own and is worth a watch.
Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate (2022)
Dry toast
The Goldy Beat Culinary Mstery book series are delightful so I was excited at first to hear they made these into a film series, so I tried to watch this 2022 Hallmark version and was saddened that they took the Goldy Bear character, whom in the books is a perky person, and the detective had a good sense of humor and made this dry boring story with a little character development.
I'm curious to know if Diane. Mott Davidson had anything to do with this script.
If you like quiet films, you may like this but otherwise I would consider it a hard pass.
I say dry toast because I feel they sucked the life out of these characters.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Fun but...
Enjoyable watch, lacks character development. My biggest complaint, was the overuse of the Blurred background; that is, one seen the main character looks like they're walking out of the Fog and I found it actually distracting.
But, my overall impression was what's favorable and I would recommend if you're a Harry Potter fan watching this.
Ghosts (2021)
Entertaining but storyline is rushed
Having watched the British edition and really loved it, I find the American storyline pales primarily because the timing is rushed. They I need to develop the characters better so the viewer can become more engaged in the story line. Otherwise an enjoyable light-hearted tale.
