Dahmer on Dahmer: A Serial Killer Speaks (2017)
Poor journalism!
I agree with the other reviewer on this show. Also, you know when someone becomes famous and people come out of the wood work to claim they were friends/or knew them well? Yeah, same thing with the fat chick who was supposedly his classmate. She offers absolutely no insight and I highly doubt she knew anything about him simply because they attended the same high school. This show is insulting to all the victims and everyone involved in this situation. Also, the questions she asks Dahmer are juvenile and just embarrassing. I'm more interested in the psychiatrist's interviews that grapple the meat and potatoes of his crimes. I felt like Chris Hansen was gonna pop up at any moment and ask him "So, Jeff, why did you bring these men to your apartment?"
I get that Dahmer is news again because certain entities want to insert identity politics into a 30 year old case, but this was a horrible "documentary." People who are now interested in the case because of the Netflix show should just skip this and read a book about him.
The Black Phone (2021)
Horrible!
The clairvoyant sister and the ghost boys ruined this for me, personally. I think it would have been better and scarier to leave that drivel out and "flesh," out Hawkes character. I waited to rent this on Prime and I'm glad I saved money at the theaters. I had heard it was supposed to be similar to the Gacy story, but alas was not. I get it with the magician instead of clown and the teenage boys, but that's not "inspired," by Gacy. It's fine if it isn't, but I think people were expecting a serial killer slasher movie and this was a couple ghosts helped me survive TLC special. I think they missed the mark and the film was met with extreme plot holes. I think the reason they made the girl clairvoyant is because they could get away with writing lazy police work. Also, Finn basically has a walkthrough to his own survival horror because the ghosts literally tell him codes to locks and where to find items and such.
