Mediocre for Korean standards

While the cast for the roles is superb this movie lacks considerably in plot.

The storyline is weak with no suspense and 1 or 2 tiny plot twists that aren't that interesting. To be honest the situations the stars get into are far from the reality anyone could have in mind. In short 3 different parties want to capture a serial killer that is the son of a high ranking official. There is no hunt whatsoever though since he literally does not try to evade them at all.

The action in the movie is almost non existent with the exception of literally only 2 scenes.

Felt greatly disappointed since Korean movies are usually fantastic in this genre.

5 / 10 stars only for the casting and the length of the movie

The definition of time and money wasted

Who on earth let this utter sh*t get released on cinemas, or anywhere to be honest.

There are other shi**y movies, like "The Last Airbender" for example, but they don't make you feel bad even if you paid for them. This is because you can humour yourself that you went to watch a parody, and you can laugh with the plot holes or the bad acting.

But this movie is even worse than "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", and I never thought I would see a worse movie so soon.

plot: 0 ( in a scale from 0 to 10 where 1 is a plot for the documentary of a fly's life. It has no holes cause the "plot" is a giant black hole itself) As far as the acting goes, I seriously hope that the notable actors lost a bet and had to join this movie else it was not even worth their "pension" fund.

Do NOT go and watch this. Can't stress this more. Spending equal time with a goldfish is a million times better, productive and healthy.

The Power Inside (2013)

Excellent!

It is amazing what people can do in so little time and that is the reason I gave it a 10.

Most episodes were 7 minutes long and still it did not fail to deliver a whole story from the start to the end.

This is the story of Neil a seemingly ordinary guy.One day,out of the blue,he learns that his lineage holds the power to stop an alien life form (half mustache half moth?!) from conquering and eventually destroying earth.

I noticed some parody elements but I found the whole story very entertaining.

As far as acting goes it felt exactly as what this mini-series needed.Almost all the actors are quite known(at least to me),and Harvey Keitel is one of them.Also the reason I found out this gem.

6 episodes.About 45 minutes in total.Don't miss it!

The Terror Live (2013)

Suspense that does not leave the room!

I have been waiting for this movie for sometime now,and my expectations were high.They were almost satisfied.

This is another one of the movies that everything happens in a small room/location and the film rarely leaves out of that.

Still the suspense is enough to keep you going.

Yeong-hwa Yoon, played beautifully by Jung-woo Ha, is a radio producer demoted(in lack of a better word) from national news anchorman.During his early show in radio he receives a call from a man , that claims he will bomb a nearby bridge.When the bridge explodes and everyone understands there was no prank call the wheels get in motion and what follows is a nice thriller.

Whereas the above plot is good,I would call for some changes during the middle of the film where you might get slightly bored.But the end will definitely make up for it.I promise you that!

The acting is very good and made me feel it was all happening in reality.

You will see few CG generated animations but this movie needs no more.

An excellent film overall,and I rated this so high due to the ending which I loved.If you like this genre then definitely watch this.Even if you don't, watch it,and you might get surprised.

A Moment to Remember (2004)

unforgettable...(I hope so)

This is the story of Su-jin who soon after suffering a heartbreak from her previous relationship meets Cheol-su with whom eventually she falls in love.

During the first half of the movie the focus lies on their life together and makes people like me ,that read in the summary about Alzheimer disease , believe that this movie has nothing more to offer than that.

Later on,we learn that Su-jin has been diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and we witness the effort of the couple to cope with the situation,and the problems that occur.

The movie is the best I have seen so far surrounding Alzheimer's problems,but that's not all it has to offer.Great acting,nice plot,and very emotional.Feel warned..and prepare to cry.

My Sassy Girl (2001)

Simply the best!

Mother of true Romance!

A genuine masterpiece.I just saw it and I can not just ignore it or forget to type a review.This movie is so vivid,so powerful! It is about 2 people meeting under strange circumstances and what comes of it.Gianna Jun along with Tae-hyun Cha give an excellent performance. I used to think that korean cinema(followed by Chinese first and Japanese after) were the masters of police dramas and that was all but after seeing this movie,the first movie from Jae-young Kwak that I watch, I got a clearer view.These are movies addressed to our souls.The people that play,the characters they create they all have souls and they make sure we get the grasp of them from the start to the end with the most vivid way. No more to say,cause only you watching this will make you understand those feelings. 10/10 and I hope I see more of those actors and director in the future.

p.s.I am not gonna watch the American remake of this.A remake of this movie makes no sense,furthermore an American one.Don't ruin those movies please!

Memories of Murder (2003)

Carved in memory!

I am gonna start by saying that this is the movie that initiated me in the world of Korean (and Asian) cinema and it holds a spot at my all time favorite films.Even if I try to give you a hint of what this movie will offer to you it would be a poor effort.Nothing can prepare you better than watching the movie yourself.

I can start talking about everyone's performance since even the people with tiny parts contributed to this masterpiece,but i am gonna just say that this is the definition of acting,served by the all the actors in this film. The plot is based on true events about the first known serial murders, which took place between 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province and we follow the effort of two detectives that try to solve the crimes. The sceneries and places are good,the atmosphere thrilling and the direction amazing.Although it seems like a "who dun it" or a "cat-mouse hunt" genre it has more to offer than the mystery.The suspense will drag you along with the actors and you will live this yourself.

This movie rightfully deserves all of the stars!10/10 by me.

Masquerade (2012)

Well this movie is not meant to be hidden! I know enough history to recognize that the two faces of the ancient god Ianós have no relevance to bad or good or prince Gwanghae or the dual role of Byung-hun Lee.But the acting of the latest is surely godlike.

Byung-hun Lee plays the part of Gwanghaegun the fifteenth king of the Joseon Dynasty and this movie is a work of fiction created around a quote that I love , "Do not put on record what is meant to be hidden".

The plot of the movie is the following.The king, afraid of his life during rumors of assassination attempts, searches for a man that looks like him and can replace him as long as the danger for his life remains.

What follows is a masterpiece.Great actors,great direction and great costumes create a drama worth anyone's time.

Do not miss it.

Highschool "kid",Matthew Broderick, tries to skip a school day by pretending he is ill.What follows is fun fun fun!

Excellent comedy that does not let you down or gets boring!

Very nice acting by all the cast and a beautifully written script along with all the puns! Plus Mia Sara ,as the girl every movie needs.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride !!! I promise you it will lead only in fun places!

P.S. Another proof that Matthew Broderick can act.

P.S.#2 I would go back in time for Mia Sara.

P.S.#3 Don't skip this movie if you want the definition of real comedy :D

Red Riding Hood (2011)

Loved it!

Amanda Seyfried + fairy tale twist . What is not to like? Nevertheless,I sat to watch it cause I heard it would be more of a thriller than a romance and I am glad I did.I loved it! A good plot,a werewolf that is actually a monster,good acting and small doses of storytelling.

The "who dun it" or better "who is it" feeling was preserved all the way till the end of the movie.And yeah I found who was the werewolf,right before it was shown us,although it might have been a lucky guess. :P Beautiful sceneries and good direction created a nice flow in this fairy tale twist.

Fairy tale twists fan or not,watch it and you 'll enjoy it.

I consider it the best of its kind out there and I hope more similar production will be on their way.

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

I feel ... betrayed !

As a "fairy tale twists" fan I am mad that this movie got a green light and I get even madder when I see so many good actors gone wasted.

The special effects were good,not superb,just good.And that was pretty much what gave this movie something to brag about.

As far as the storyline/plot/script there was no twist to be seen for miles except making snow-white hold a sword.Pretty sure that this was not on the fairy tale.Every other attempt to add some mystery,suspense or plot twist failed to the level that can be considered non-existent.

And there comes the second part of my rage: "Why would anyone hire so many good actors and make them work as extras?" ,cause to me that is what they were,a rich background that did not serve its purpose since NO character was built or "brought to life" in that movie.

But let's pretend for a moment that the storyline had a chance to make such a movie happen,"actor" Kristen Stewart surely killed it. There is no movie,excluding animations,bearing a bit of emotion that this woman should be allowed to be a part of since she can't show any kind of facial emotion than apathy.

This movie does not need a sequel,it needs a REBOOT!!!

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013)

I am not gonna lie,since "Red Riding Hood" I am a fan of the "fairy tales twists" genre and this one is a worthy addition to this list.

Gemma "Hottie" Arterton and Jeremy Renner prove to be a good match and stand up to their reputation.

The plot is well-written although I couldn't help the feeling that the movie was escalating quickly causing minor plot holes and convenient situations on behalf of the 2 main stars.

The action was superb and it won't let you down,but as far as romance goes,the few emotionally charged scenes were well...not so emotionally written.Speaking of emotions the family relationship could have a stronger basis but all of that was caught up in the "race" of the movie that I mentioned right above.

The witch hunting twist was brilliant and as far it concerns me it leaves room for a sequel,even a better one since a strong basis is already built,a sequel that I would gladly watch!

Cold Case (2003–2010)

Never again had I seen a show like that when I started watching this a long time ago.

A beautiful cast,a perfect combo of crime solving mysteries (crimes that occurred in the past and were left unsolved) with drama , over the top soundtracks and the "ghosts" of the dead appearing to produce heart breaking feelings !

If compared with anything of its genre it will get the number 1 prize for me.Absolutely amazing!

I really wish they team up once more to create a movie,would gladly pay to watch it.

The Island (2009)

Most enjoyable !

Just watched "νηsos" or "The Island" as how IMDb translates this.

Got to say this comedy movie is one of the best created in Greece and there is no wonder why! The story is about a will of a business man and the havoc it creates.The plot becomes a bit darkened but clever.

Shooted in Sifnos,an island located at western Cyclades in the Aegean sea, contains beautiful view for the whole time of the movie, natural landscapes ,but also traditional Greek island neighborhoods and buildings.

The humour is brilliant and I found myself laughing all the time.A well picked cast,supports the humour and plot as they deserve.

If a slightly better end existed I would rate this better,but it is one of the funniest and enjoyably movies that I have seen.

Friends (1994–2004)

Absolutely amazing!

Writing this review,at 2013 I still hope to meet those guys in real life and shake their hand for what they gave me.So much joy and happiness.

This show is about 6 best friends and their lives.

Six individuals Jennifer Aniston , Courteney Cox , Lisa Kudrow , Matt LeBlanc , Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer that were meant to play those roles.I can't think of any actors that would fit these roles better and I don't think there will ever be! Let alone the casting was superb,the script and those punch lines are still the source of TV-shows that try more or less to create something similar.

I can't express how much I love those guys and how much I miss this show but I can guarantee to all viewers that have not seen it yet,that you are missing THE BEST SHOW ever created! 10/10 and I really hope all the people that contributed to this to be as happy as they made us.Thank you!

Death on the Nile (1978)

a MUST see for all !

To begin with,this is my first review. I am a mystery-crime genre fan and I 've read a lot of books,most belonging to Agatha Cristie.I 've not yet read "Death on the Nile" but after watching this movie years ago I don't feel like I need too anymore.

Starting with the sceneries I would easily give this movie 9/10 for all the magnificent historical monuments such as Pyramids, the Sphinx, and a lot more, and the view we get to see during the boat trip.

The plot has a great flow and you 'll find yourself staying at the same boat for the whole movie,trying to find who did what.Just amazing!

It's an all-star cast so you won't doubt the acting for a moment and my personal favourite ,as Hercule Poirot, Peter Ustinov.

The direction is what makes this great acting,sceneries and plot work together to achieve this magnificent film.

And that is why people who don't watch films of this kind will like it,and mystery-genre fans like myself will love it!
