Frontline Fightback (2021)
Snorefest
Dull, repetitive, boring, repetitive, flat repetitive.
Seriously this show repeated itself over and over again. Never have I seen a show about crime and/or technology that was this dull. It was like watching paint dry. It could be a very interesting show but it either needs to be shortened to 30 minute episodes or have more content. In some places they even used the exact same film footage several times in the exact episode. Honestly someone needs to be fired. Worse they made several seasons with several episodes per season. What a waste of the licensing fee. I would also recommend a host to introduce the technology and how it is being used before showing how it is used.
To Catch a Copper (2024)
Good Show but.....
Good show and demonstrates how difficult it is to prosecute bad officers. It should not be this way. It was clear in episode 1 that all of these individuals were guilty and these officers should not be serving. At least one should be serving a prison sentence. His defence was laughable. Yes police suffer PTSD but there is loads of support for them. The trial process needs to change dramatically. There needs to be more pressure by the public on police to change the process. There will always be bad apples but they need to be removed from the force without delay. Also when officers resign there needs to be a process to prevent them from joining another force.
Britain's Secret Islands (2022)
Missed Opportunity
With such a fascinating subject, this should have been an epic story. Instead it was fractured, poorly edited and badly hosted. Not nearly enough time was spent on some islands. The interviewer doesn't ask follow up questions. Awkward endings to many interviews. Few experts on hand. I spent most of the show yelling at the TV. Beautiful camera work though including the drone shots. Lots of significant and interesting historical information, although too much about WW2 and not enough about other time periods which is just lazy researchers. This subject should be picked up by the BBC and done properly.
Hijack (2023)
Rubbish
I knew I was doomed within the first 10 minutes when people were running for a flight and short cutting security just to make their plane. The script is rubbish. The characters are caricatures of every global stereotype and not in a good way. The plot is wholly (and holey) ridiculous. The talent of Mr Elba has been wasted on this mess. Clearly the script was written by ignorant Americans who have the all the British characters acting like rude Americans. Lots of long glances across aisles of a plane which are just plain wasting time to fill the episode. Give this a miss. Or endure. If you do you will wish your plane had been hijacked instead.
Our Universe (2022)
Scientifically inaccurate
I honestly can't believe how many scientific errors there are in this series. I can't believe Netflix let this rubbish be aired. Did they not have real scientist on the team? Did they let anyone with proper credentials review the script? I was swearing at the TV.
There are other series available which are much better. Much much better. Watch Wonders of the Solar System. Although it isn't narrated by Morgan Freeman, it is narrated by an actual astrophysicist. It is far more reliable than this absolute nonsense.
Netflix has now misinformed possibly millions of people about important stuff and don't seem to think they have a responsibility. Makes me want to spit.
London Kills (2019)
Rubbish
This show is so far removed from the reality of policing it is incredulous. Disappointed that the BBC would allow such rubbish to be aired. Could have been better if it had been routed in at least some reality. Not a single uniformed officer responds to a dropped 9s call and not a weapon in sight when there is clear and present danger. Suspects openly questioned without legal representation. Confrontation between senior officers and rampant bullying. There is no way officers who repeatedly conducted themselves so unprofessionally would be allowed to continue their careers without involvement of IOPC.
National Theatre Live: Prima Facie (2022)
Beyond brilliant
Jodie Comer is superb. The story and the statistics are shocking. The entire process for from reporting, investigating, and convicting doesn't work. The system is broken. Everyone needs to watch this. 1 in 3. Don't forget that.
This Means War (2012)
Love the premise. Hate the ending.
SPOILER ALERT
She picked the guy that had to fake everything to get her to fall in love with her. Wrong on so many levels.
Tuck would have been the better choice.
The Real Manhunter: The murder of Sally Lawrence (2022)
Repetitive
The show would be 15 minutes long if it didn't keep repeating the same information. Would be much better if an explanation of investigation techniques and strategies.
The Raincoat Killer: Chasing a Predator in Korea (2021)
Slow Pace
It's difficult to separate the review from the incompetence of the Korean police force. The lead officer is a buffoon and they didn't take the killings of women seriously because they were s*x workers. So there's that. But the documentary is slow so paced. And doesn't include forensic work. The cartoonish element is annoying.
I Am Woman (2019)
It's about the songs
The songs were the soundtrack of my youth. Her songs heavily influenced my inner feminist. Loved it.
The Victim (2019)
Hated everything about this.
Hated everything about this. Not a single character to care about. Hated the script. Could have been 2 episodes. No pace.
After the Screaming Stops (2018)
Complete Children
Wasn't in the UK when theses two were big and never have I been so grateful. These two man boys are still children. They are both self absorbed and selfish. Matt is a bully beyond belief. Luke would be better off without him in his life. Hope they never ever make music together again.
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Could have waited another 14 years
My 14 year old daughter loved it but I was bored stiff. Nothing new. Nothing surprised me. Nothing interesting. The first one was hilarious and unexpected. This wasn't. Wait for it to go on TV. Save your money.
The Resident (2018)
Superb
Brilliant portrayal of the less than savoury side of medicine in the USA.
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Charming becomes Annoying
The characters become incredibly annoying very quickly.
Inside Look: The Assassination of Gianni Versace - American Crime Story (2017)
Full of dishonesty
The shows implies that Gianni was HIV positive. This is a massive inaccuracy. He was most definitely not HIV positive. At this point the show lost all credibility. How could they have screwed this up on such a massive scale and a matter of indisputable fact? Infuriating! And epically disrespectful.
