Stake Land (2010)
Not very good
If you were to watch this and not give it any thought it might be Ok however...
The first hour of this movie and the vampires are basically brainless zombies, then about 30mins to go we have vampires showing intelligence and using tricks to hunt humans. They go back to being dumb, then they find the baddie and he's able to speak etc as a vampire then it ends with dumb vampires.
Simply when they needed the vampires to be smarter or dumber they were, either keep them dumb or smart or give a simple explanation why some are dumb and others smart.
A post apocalyptic movie which tries to be The Walking dead but the inconsistencies ruined it for me.
Titane (2021)
Strange, uncomfortable viewing which i couldn't stop watching.
I viewed this movie simply due to Vincent Lindon being in it, seen it was classed scifi so went into it knowing nothing.
Young girl is involved in a car accident and get a metal plate fitted, years later while working as a model she kills a stalker and has sex with a car.
She kills a few more people then decides to pretend to be Vincent's long lost son by shaving her head etc
She works with vincent as a firefighter while pregnant with a cadillacs baby. She cheats on the cadillac with a fire engine.
At the end she tried to have sex with her dad, he doesnt so she gives birth to a hybrid human/robot baby and dies, her not dad is happy.
The End.
What an incredibly bizarre movie which I may alter my score as a days pass, maybe higher or maybe lower as there's a bit to process in this.
Bad Biology (2008)
His most messed up movie yet!
From the mad Frank Henenlotter responsible for the tremendous Brain Damage, bizarre Basket Case & Frankenhooker comes his most messed up film yet, i think.
There's two storylines one of Jennifer the 7 clit nymphomaniac who sometimes kills her lovers and there's Batz who has a sentient penis.
In one scene Batz's penis detaches itself, escapes, breaks into homes of what can only be described as semi naked porn actresses and pumps them. If you have ever wondered how your detachable sentient knob could break into a house this movie answers that question.
For anyone who has seen and enjoyed Reanimator or especially Brain Damage this movie is for you, everyone else avoid.
ReplyReport Edit.
Dune (2021)
Slow, boring and not really needed
As a fan of the book, early movie and TV series i was looking forward to this though i do have doubts about the director at times (blade runner 2049 being dreadful) so was expecting something slow.
The good - it wasnt too slow paced but could've been better.
Aquaman was good as duncan.
The bad - it didnt capture the politics between the houses & emperor.
It didnt explain the bene gesserit properly or capture jessica's feelings.
Sadly it was half a movie with the ending meh.
Josh Brolin and Dave Bautista (again by DV) under utilised.
I dont see how anyone that doesnt have knowledge of the universe of Dune could enjoy this movie.
Hell Comes to Frogtown (1988)
Fun B Movie
For me Sam Hell belongs up there with Snake Plissken and Ashley J Williams as B movie hero's.
There's been an apocalypse leaving behind sterile male humans and mutated human frogs.
Sam has been recruited as the last known virile man to go mate with the fertile human ladies roaming the badlands, he's accompanied by two frisky government ladies.
Roddy Piper once again proved he can act and hold his way as the lead in a scifi movie. Well worth watching for anyone who loves B movie nonsense.
7 croaks out of 10.
Blood Red Sky (2021)
Good fun movie.
This reminded me a lot of the first episode of The Strain, simply a vampire on a plane.
I wish I'd never known it was a vampire movie before hand but I'm not sure how obvious it would've been had I not known.
Towards the end I was expecting some sort of cliff hanger that would result in a sequel so very happy with the ending.
Well worth watching.
The Ten Commandments (1956)
Epic viewing for all ages
I can remember this from being young at my grans and it seemingly being on all day, at 3:45 it flew by. Everything about this was great even though i thought it would take a few days of watching i done it one viewing. Some of the studio backgrounds and effects would embarrass current tv.
Fantastic viewing.
The Nature of the Beast (1995)
Very good movie that had me guessing throughout
There was a period in the early 2000's I'd accidently catch Eric Roberts movies on late night TV and they were generally not very good however this is an exception.
Lance Henriksen is always good but Eric Roberts performance throughout was excellent. I will revisit more of his movies after seeing this.
Well worth watching.
Dream On: I'm with Stupid (1994)
One of the best
This has a low rating but i found it one of the best episodes though this series has been consistently good throughout.
We have the Kama Sutra and Mensa in this episode where Martin Tupper excels at one but not the other or does he.
Dream On: Blinded by the Cheese (1994)
Best yet.
I first watched this back in the 90's but only seen a few here and there so got a hold of this and it's been great but this has been my favourite episode so far.
The intro and cut scenes were absolutely excellent. Martin Tupper is a great laugh.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Emperor's New Cloak (1999)
Disappointing.
We're getting closer to the end of the series but the last few episodes seem stand alone and not offering much to the overall story.
This is only my second Star Trek series I've watched, Enterprise the first and that ended horrifically, I really hope this picks up and soon.
The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: My First Adventure (1992)
Great start to the series.
I thought this was going go a certain way about 20minutes but as the episode went on it got better and better, a very good start to the series.
Kung Fury (2015)
Brilliant fun
This is 31minutes of awesomeness, an absolute cheese fest done 100% right. We have smatterings of every 80's movie and culture, like a Kung Fu version of Ready Player One. There was bits of Terminator, Back to the Future, Tron, Big Trouble in Little China, every 80's Kung Fu movie and action movie ever made.
Excellent fun and good to see a sequel is being made.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Resurrection (1997)
Mirror Universe
After a few excellent episodes we go back to filler. I'm not a fan of the mirror universe in DS9.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Children of Time (1997)
Fantastic.
There has been a few gems in Season 5 with Nor The Battle To The Strong my favourite but this was as equally as good.
I thought DS9 was going to be a poor man's Babylon 5 however its surprised me, very good show.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Visitor (1995)
Fantastic
Not only a great episode but one of the finest episodes of any scifi series, brilliant.
A massively strong start to season 4.
Finder's Fee (2001)
Enjoyable movie.
Simple plot for this, man find a wallet calls the number inside and leaves his contact details. He gets nosey and checks the wallet, inside there is a lottery ticket and upon checking its the winner.
His friends turn up for a game of poker then the man he left a message for turns up for his wallet. At this point there is a police emergency where nobody can leave the building, and at this point the story kicks off.
There is a twist in the last seconds which I liked. The movie could easily have been 30mins long as the final 15mins were the main part however its a nice easygoing thriller.
Tenet (2020)
Can't hear parts of the movie - needs subtitles
I was really enjoying this but was noticing some scenes were very difficult to make out what was being said. There was one scene, three of them chatting in a city street but it was hard to make out, then they go sailing and it ruined any enjoyment i had as it was so hard to hear.
I will revisit this but with subtitles.
Nothing But the Truth (2008)
Was I meant to feel sympathy?
Matt Dillon usual sterling performance and Kate Beckinsdale in the first movie I've seen her act well.
Reporter does a story giving up national security, she goes to court and jail. At any point she can get out if she reveals her source, she doesn't and loses her husband/kid through it all. I was thinking the source must be someone high up that would have to be facing a more severe sentence than her own.
Then we get to the end and the big reveal. The source is the spy's young kid who blabbed on the school bus.
She spends a year in jail, two more years in prison, loses her husband and child because she won't admit a young child blabbed? Absolutely stupid.
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.: Bad Luck Betty (1994)
Population = Strange
I thought once Bly had been despatched the subsequent episodes would fizzle out but they have been really good, with a good few more comedic characters.
Poole is kidnapped which leads County and Bowler to a little town which identifies itself as Population = Strange which was completely correct.
There's a nice twist at the end but once again a very good episode. Only two more to go sadly.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (2020)
Enjoyable nonsense but not what I hoped for.
I love Star Wars bar the sequels so enjoy this but I've found both episodes of S2 not as good as I hoped.
Star Wars always needs to move away from the big dumb object (death star) plot but this seems to be a big dumb monster series. Tremor liked worm first episode and spiders in this, I'm not complaining but its clearly aimed at kids.
A slightly more adult version of this is what I'm beginning to think what's needed for Star Wars. This as a 15/18 TV series could be epic, what I'm seeing isn't.
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.: Hard Rock (1994)
The best episode yet.
I'm a fan of Bruce though he does appear in some dross however this show is excellent. Lord Bowler almost steals the show at times as he's such a fun character and is possibly my favourite side kick to Bruce across anything he's done.
This episode has a bit of everything but the addition of the Elvis Sheriff was a great move, another fun character.
I'm coming towards the end this series which is a shame as at the moment I want more episodes like this.
Kindred: The Embraced (1996)
Decent 'vampire' series.
I went into this knowing it was cancelled without a proper end but it stars C Thomas Howell who I've always enjoyed and the excellent Kelly Rutherford from Briscoe.
With other cancelled series this really picked up in the last few episodes, but worth watching. There's little or know violence, neck biting etc so easy watching.
Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)
Enjoyable Nonsense
Elvis and a black JFK are holed up in an old folks home with an ancient mummy on the loose sucking the souls from residents.
It's classic Bruce Campbell, corny, monsters and good fun however for me it wasn't a patch on My Name is Bruce which was excellent.
Fans of Bruce, B Movies and 80's horror will like this I'm not too sure other's will.
7 Groovy's out of 10.
Tremors: Ghost Dance (2003)
Good episode
Dean Norris shows up well in this, its good to see him feature more and you see he is a good actor.
This series could be a great reboot,
