The Rich List (2006)
One of the best game shows I have ever seen.
Tonight, FOX premiered The Rich List, a new game show that touts being the richest show on television. They also said that it was the most addicting game show since Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
That would have been an understatement. The Rich List is even more addicting. In fact, it is actually one of the best game shows I have ever seen. It's odd for me to say that considering that I only saw one episode, but that was enough to know. (And I'm a huge game show fan!) Usually, game shows ask questions that only have one answer. This show has many more answers, usually more than 50. The questions on the show are actually quite easy, but it's up to the teams on how many they are willing to answer. An example was to name Tom Cruise movies. (I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise, but I did have some of the titles in my head.) So to begin, a team said that they could name about 10. Now they go to the other team, and see how much they are willing to go for. The amount gets higher until the other team folds, forcing the team with the highest amount to match the number of answers they said they could produce. Then, they have to actually answer the amount they said they could. If they match their number, they get a point. If they get a single answer that isn't one of the eligible ones, the other team gets a point. First one to two wins.
The bonus round works the same way, except they have to answer a set number of answers (15). For every three that they answer correctly, they win an amount of money. The first three wins a modest amount of money, while the final three are worth huge amounts of money.
Well, it's true that people can win millions, although it may take more than 1 episode to surpass the million dollar mark. However, that's what makes the show so great: contestants get to keep coming back if they win the main game, regardless of how they do in the bonus round. What makes it even better is that the teams consist of 2 complete strangers. It is very interesting to watch the teams work together. For example, the first episode, one team had 2 very different people that really didn't seem to look like they would work well together. However, as they worked together to win the game, they seemed to really become a team in the sense of winning for each other. They went on to win $175,000 alone in the first episode and are coming back in the 2nd one! I'm really looking foreword to future episodes. The gameplay is fantastic and the host keeps the contestants (as well as the viewers) on the edge of their seats. It's a great game show that anybody can get into. Heck, you might even scream at your TV a couple of times. Trust me, you'll love it.
Klay World: Off the Table (2005)
Painfully bad. Worst movie ever?
I saw this movie the other night. I can't even begin to express how much this movie sucked. The writing, the voice acting, even the claymation. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. It's like watching 24 hours of C-Span for the sake of comedy. It just doesn't work. It literally falls flat at about every spot possible.
Also, the movie's animation is very poor quality. I know that this is an movie made by one person, but to think that he could make 97 minutes worth of crap, maybe he could at least make 1 second worth of funny.
This show may take the cake for being the worst film of all time. Yikes. It really was that bad. If you're looking for a movie that will make you laugh, steer clear from this abomination. My advice: Don't even buy it, or look it up for that matter. Your brain will than you.
The Drew Carey Show (1995)
The most innovative show of the 90's
Sitcoms in 1995 seemed to all be the same, with the exception of a few shows, The Drew Carey Show being one of them. However, this show seemed to stand out from all of the other shows. It combined the traditional sitcom premises with sarcasm and wit. It turned any plot into a fun, hilarious half hour that you will be laughing about years from when you saw it. Unline most sitcoms, this show gave every character a personality, and not skimping on it either. Even if Drew was your favorite character, you would still be amazed at the likability of the other characters. Oswald, Mimi, you name it. They all have a part in the show and bring in as many laughs as Drew Carey himself. No show has had moments that made me laugh harder than The Drew Carey Show.
In the early 21st century, ABC seemed to juggle The Drew Carey Show as if they wanted it to be off the airwaves for good. Viewership dwindled heavily, and even the show itself seemed to lost its touch a bit (Replacing "Cleveland Rocks" with "Moon Over Parma"? Come on!) but the show kept on rolling, still bringing in hilarity at any moment possible. (Like they always have) ABC Then cancelled the show, but they didn't give up like that. Fans of the show didn't want to be left unsatisfied and wanted the show to end with a bang, and ABC revived the show in the summer of 2004. Each week, they showed a full hour of new episodes. (ABC getting rid of it as quickly as possible. Figures) By the end of the summer, the show had ended. Not with a bang, but with a whisper. Thanks to ABC's terrible advertising of the show (They advertised it?) the viewership was low. However, the episodes still remained funny and left whoever was watching it, satisfied.
Thanks to everybody who made The Drew Carey Show! A great series, shelling out more than 200 episodes of pure comedy goodness.
The Bottom Line: Cleveland Rocks!
Mr. Show and the Incredible, Fantastical News Report (1998)
A very funny collection of Mr. Show sketches.
This is basically a clip show of great sketches from the 3rd Season of Mr. Show, which was one of the best (Which sounds strange, because the show only lasted 4 seasons and all of the seasons were amazing) Anyways, the plot for the Incredible, Fantastical News Report looks like a newscast from the 70's/80's with horrible (yet hilarious) voice dubbing. However at the end of this special, it goes to the Editorial, where all of a sudden during where the newscaster is speaking, Bob and David walk in, and not long after, so does the rest of the newscrew. It really blows your mind when you see how well of a job they did on the fake newscast, because it really looked like it was a real newscast.
It was very funny and extremely well done. 10/10
