Killjoy (2000)
Horribly dull and stupid.
This movie was horribly dull and stupid. Not only that, it was extremely and pathetically ghetto as hell.
I'm not going to waste time and tell you what the movie is about because other reviewers have already done that. I just want to exclaim to everyone to SKIP THIS MOVIE.
The acting is cheap and horrible and the death scenes are just stupid and extremely fake. Killjoy the clown is incessantly annoying and more gay than scary.
The only scene I liked in this whole mess of a movie was the scene where a woman's breasts are seen and the shower scene. Yeah, the nudity is the only good part of this film..lol
The Changeling (1980)
A Great Movie
This was actually a really good movie.
The plot is about a man who retreats to Seattle after the tragic deaths of his wife and daughter and hopes to slowly get his like back in order. However, the spirit of a dead boy murdered by his father prevents any peace and he feels he needs to solve the mystery of the spirit boy.
The only odd thing about the movie is that it was given an "R" rating. There is nothing in this movie that would warrant an "R" rating. I understand it was a different time back then, but come on! Poltergeist was more intense and quite gory in one scene and got a "PG" rating. Yet, this movie which isn't gory or violent, has no strong language or any sex scenes, gets an R rating. This film should have received a "PG" rating (I'm going based on the movie ratings of that time).
Rebecca (1940)
It was an okay movie
This movie was an okay movie, but kind of dragged on a bit and became very disappointing to realize that no "ghost of Rebecca" is anywhere in the film. Rebecca is only mentioned by individuals who remembered her. Her ghost doesn't appear or possess anyone and yet this is consider a ghost story...which it clearly isn't.
I enjoyed the movie for the most part, but also was again a little disappointed. I only rented this movie because I read online that it was a great ghost story, and I happen to love watching movies about ghost and the supernatural. Again, this movie isn't a movie about a ghost at all. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, it is fairly decent, but is very slow paced.
BloodRayne (2005)
It wasn't that bad
I know a lot of people didn't really like this movie. However, I didn't think it was a bad movie at all. I actually enjoyed it.
The only thing that I thought was completely stupid was the pointless sex scene. Sex scenes are okay if done in a proper way, but the sex scene in this movie was just stupid and pointless. She walks out of the cell and attempts to bite some guy and then for some reason she decides not to bite him and instead disrobes him and herself to have sex with him. She barely knew the guy and for no apparent reason decides to have sex with him. Completely pointless and unrealistic (I'm aware that movies don't have to be realistic, but come on! It was just all wrong).
Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961)
Pathetically Awful
I really never heard of this movie before until I bought "Horror Classics" from Wal-Mart which is basically 50 "supposed" horror classics in one set.
One thing is certain THIS IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE AND IT SHOULDN'T BE IN A SET OF HORROR CLASSICS EITHER.
Like what I stated above this movie isn't a horror movie at all. It's just a pathetic poorly acted and directed wannabe comedy. The chase scene at the beginning was the only thing I thought was good. After that scene was over it just became more boring with each passing minute.
It was also annoying towards the end where new characters just started to pop in. Reading other reviews on this site I can understand that the film was not meant to be taken seriously, but still..it was so awful.
Pet Shop Boys: Montage - The Nightlife Tour (2001)
A Bit Disappointing
I'm a huge fan of Pet Shop Boys and while at a local record store my brother and I came across this DVD. Oddly, a "Parental Advisory" label was on (which made us very curious as to why it would receive that). It turns out there was absolutely nothing that would warrant a "Parental Advisory" label (besides the very brief and gross scene of a man's naked buttocks).
As for the concert itself it was a bit boring and the background singers kept screwing up most of the songs (to me at least). I love their music, but these two don't really do much but stand and kind of dance ( I expect the keyboardist not to dance, but the singer seemed as if he was bored and not really into it).
A lot of the projected images were a bit annoying too. Most seemed to be on a loop and repeated itself way too many times. The sailor guys who wore extremely short shorts and dancing every time the chorus was sung on "New York City Boy" just made me want to puke.
Some parts of the concert were okay, but I was more bored than anything else.
The Lil' River Rats and the Adventure of the Lost Treasure (2003)
Waste of time
This movie was in a family movie pack (which had other movies as well) that I got at Wal-Mart, so I wasn't expecting greatness. However, this movie was really bad. THe story isn't an original story either. The acting was terrible and the fact that a father leaves his daughter alone without a babysitter is just appalling.
I was hoping for something somewhat decent, but instead got a bland poorly acted movie. I assume little kids might like it, if they're not bored with it, but I think that even kids will find this movie really boring.
Hmm, I need ten lines, so I have no idea what more to say that I haven't said already. The movie wasn't good...okay hopefully this will be enough.
The Jerk (1979)
Barely funny
The Jerk has been praised as not only one of Steve Martin's best comedic efforts, but also one of the funniest of all motion pictures.
For me that is really hard to believe. I rented the movie and watched it yesterday expecting a great comedy, instead I found the movie not that funny at all. There were some moments that were funny, but majority of the movie seemed to just drag on.
I've read reviews here and read people saying they were really laughing hard when watching the movie. It amazed me to read comments such like that. A lot of comments are in favor of the movie even though it's completely bland and not that funny at all.
I also felt that there was no need for the movie to be R rated. But they didn't have the PG-13 rating at the time of its release.
I'm glad I only rented it and didn't buy it.
