Wrath (2011)
One hell of a ride...
I saw this little gem at the AFM last November when I accompanied one of buyers (a friend of mine) to a screening. I had no idea what I was in for, all I knew was that it was this little indie thriller from Australia, so I wasn't expecting much... but I quickly found myself getting caught up in it all! The film is full of twists and turns with interesting characters that actually have depth and aren't just, for lack of a better term, "slasher fodder". The antagonist in the film is interesting too, you don't really know who this evil force is or what it wants, until the end of course when all is revealed. It keeps you guessing all the time and just when you think you know where it's going, it tricks you. Very entertaining- but not for the faint hearted! I highly recommend it. A top notch thriller!
A Perfect Life (2010)
An unfaithful husband is subjected to a torture device connected to a polygraph and is forced by his lover to tell the truth.
I saw this film at it's premier having no idea what to expect but was really blown away by it. It's a dark and intense thriller that gives new meaning to the phrase, "the truth hurts". I absolutely loved the concept of the main character (played by Earl) being tortured by his lover with a machine that's connected to a lie detector. She presses him for the truth and every time he tells a lie, his pain level increases. And on top of that, his wife has also been kidnapped and being forced to watch the whole thing! A very disturbing concept but strangely entertaining none the less, it keeps you guessing right till the very end like every good thriller does. Great performances, script, cinematography, editing and score. I highly recommend it!
