War of the Worlds: Episode #2.8 (2021)
Lazy writing to wrap things up
Finished The War of the Worlds. Well, that was interesting. I liked how they made it turn out that it was us from the future....
Except there's one problem that bugs me; the paradox created by the idea that Emily and Sacha were the original Adam and Eve who created the race of future humans who come back to attack us.
They said everything had been leading up to them getting on that ship and spawning generations of humans with the rare genetic disorder (his muscular dystrophy and whatever she had). Then their descendants eventually travelled back in time to attack us and to stop Bill Ward and his virus, because of Sacha's twisted views and hatred for what Bill did to Emily. And a time loop was created that repeated over and over. Okay, sure.
But how could they have gotten on that ship the very first time? It wouldn't have existed, because they hadn't ever gotten on it before that point, and hadn't ever travelled to another world where their descendants would eventually travel back in time to create the whole attack scenario that led to them getting on the ship in the first place! And who developed the technology and the ships? Apparently they already existed, otherwise Emily and Sacha could never have boarded one to spawn the future humans in the first place? But wasn't it the future humans who developed the technology for the ships and time travel eons into the future?
And then when they all went back further into the past and Bill pushed Emily off the roof and killed her, thus preventing everything from happening, why didn't all the others from the future disappear? Technically, they would no longer exist once the time loop was broken. Yet they were still there?
It doesn't make sense! I feel like the writers just got lazy and tried to wrap everything up to end the series with some semblance of closure.
I hate when they do stuff like that and it doesn't make any sense. It started off pretty strong, and overall it was very interesting and fun to watch, but the ending really sucked.
The Heights (2019)
Loving The Heights from Canada!
As a lover of UK and Australian telly, I'm always on the lookout for new series. The Heights is exactly the type of drama I love. The characters are real, relatable, and endearing. The storylines are important and heartfelt. The drama is top notch. I really hope there will be more seasons to come! I'll definitely be buying the series on DVD to support the show!
