The One (2021)
It's fiction, people...
I'm very surprised by the number of reviewers who don't like the show because it's scientifically impossible. Like Game of Thrones is super historically accurate...
Anyways, the negative reviews I agree with are those that highlight that women in the show are all portrayed as evil, Machiavellian, or weak or a combination of all three. Even before getting a confirmation of that, I was convinced that the script (in this case the novel) had been written by a man, to whom I'd highly recommend to see an psychoanalyst.
Other than that, the show is entertaining, has unexpected twists and the acting is good.
Fin de siglo (2019)
The nature of romance
The true beauty of End of the Century is that it's not a cloying gay romance-drama - homophobia, coming-out, and self-hated are never really cards on the table. This gives the film space to explore the far more compelling drama that springs from the nature of the romance - that these are two people who want to be together, so clearly should be together, yet circumstance has kept them apart.
London Irish (2013)
It's like...
...the characters of Friends had kids with the characters of Shameless after a drunk night in Vegas, and the kids were born in Belfast, and they moved to London and met at in pub instead of a coffee shop. I love it.
