Sahara (2017)
Found it on Netflix
Never heard of it, just put it on cause we couldn't find anything else. It looked like an old movie until we put it on and the animation was really good. The story unfolds a bit slow, but entertaining. Well worth our time. Both me, my gf and our daughter (7 years old) loved it.
I see it gets low review scores here, which is odd, cause it was much better than many of the best animated films this year.
So I'm wondering..why haven't anyone heard of this movie? Whoever tried to promote this movie did a horrible job. Shame on you. It's sad to see only the big animated movies win. If I ever saw a trailer of this movie, I can't remember it. There are many funny characters here too. Really well animated etc. Still, even in the pictures section here on IMDb it's really lacking content. Really strange!
A good movie, but something went really wrong when this came out. Hope those somebody can learn from it and make more movies. It's also probably. One of the first movies that make "the evil" creatures like snakes and scorpions into heroes. That concept would easily look stupid, but this works.
Criminal Minds (2005)
So sad..
I can't in my wildest dreams understand how this show have a rating above 8. It always starts out fairly good, but then in all episodes ever made of the show, the plot holes or leaps in logic begin to come up everywhere. The show is an 8 until 70% of the episode has been played. Then the last 30% ends up in buggery. It's almost always the same. Every episode has a lot of good and smart points in the beginning. I understand, there's some smart writers among the writers, but why must you every time end the episode with lazy logic, simple solutions which are painful to watch logically. When so much else in the series is well thought out, this is sad to see. This series could be so much better, if only they stop the dumb solutions. I understand there is a time limit to every episode, but please, stop the dumb endings. Many other series manage to keep up the logic pace, why can't you?
Falling Skies (2011)
80ies rediscovered
Who was this made for? Was this written back in the eighties? It's so unbelievably transparent and filled with clichés I couldn't believe would be written into a show today. This is pure regression and writing I could expect from someone less than 20 years of age or more than 70 years and with some drug related or high stress related brain damage. Or is it just a simple mind who want series to be like they where back in the 80ties or at best early 90ties?
It's not the actors fault, but after trying to understand how a series like this has actually been made, my best guess is that it's a safe plot, safe money coming in and safe work for everybody involved. It sets family values high, sure I'm a father and could have appreciated that, but it gives me constant shivers from political correct series from the 80/90ties. Even the way the camera angles and the music is used keep giving me PTSD flashbacks from Full House.. That is something I never would have expected to re-live in late 2012?! Does history repeat itself THIS fast? I just can't believe it. After recently having seen season two of The Walking Dead my standards might have been set a bit high, but I have now almost come through the whole season here. I wanted to see it through simply because It's important for me to give sci-fi a good chance and I'm just intrigued by how bad something can be done with enough "yes"-people.
I'm not calling the bad writing part here plot holes, but just horrible writing. It's just a too simple Michael Bay-psychology (that way of explaining it just makes sense!).To build up suspense every character in the series must take turns on being the village idiot. While trying to hide from the aliens, one of the characters must go into sudden retarded mode and start hitting a cow bell while hiding behind a glass wall.. while screaming "Cumbayah my lord" clapping his hands. Maybe I exaggerated this a bit, but then again...this scene would at least be honest towards the viewer and make more sense. They could also have said. "We sadly had to kill off this character because if he had not died, the series would have been over in just two more episodes". Really, I don't need to be blown away by a series to like it. I just need something above average. This is way below average. It makes CSI look intelligent. That is scary!
