Hellraiser (2022)
9/10
Outstanding
22 October 2022
As a massive Clive Baker fan I was very excited to watch this new adaption of his works about the Lemarchand Configuration and the Cenobites. After watching the trailers I was intrigued by the new design of the Cenobites and their characteristics. As for the story I expected it to follow the Hellbound Heart like the Hellraiser movie from the 80s did. What I found was a new exciting story with new characters and a different version of the Lemarchand Configuration.

I thought this movie was absolutely amazing as it did not replicate what had come before. This film felt more like an alternate universe than a new installment or remake of the Hellraiser franchise.

As a film the visuals, story and gore were spot on and the final girl was full of character and personality. The new Hell Priest/Pinhead was so strong in performance that the mere presence was terrifying.

All in all I think this film has brought Hellraiser movies back on the right track again. I would love to learn more about this new universe and it's lore, here's hoping they create more outstanding Hellraiser movies.

Monster High: The Movie (2022 TV Movie)
7/10
Much more amazing than I expected
18 October 2022
I am someone who grew up with the OG monster high web episodes and movies. I wasn't expecting much from this but it blew me away, all the talent involved was amazing and you could tell the actors had an amazing time making this film. I know this movie wasn't made for me as an adult in her 20s, it's made for children who I can just tell are going to love it!

Although a lot of the darker vibes of the original movies and episodes aren't always there it still has the same powerful message that monster high is all about!

The music was fun and catchy, the fashion wasn't as outrageous as I hoped but the style was on point and stylish (I recognized a few of the clothing items too, so it would be fun to recreate these looks), but I have to say again how amazing all the talent involved was.

The only thing as an Australian that made me sad was not making Lagoona Blue Australian, I loved her old design and the fact that there was a doll that was an Australian monster. I guess that's something the movie did lack overall was the amazing accents and cultural heritage that could have been more prevalent.

Overall it was a great movie, and I would absolutely watch it again! It's hard to create something from a material that has a big fan base, but I think this movie will create a whole new wave of monster high fans who will know that being different is the most special thing of all!

Pinocchio (I) (2022)
9/10
Wonderful full of Disney magic
17 September 2022
Does Disney need to keep making live action films? Absolutely not but this was really fun and magical to watch. Pinocchio to me is definitely one of the better live actions that Disney has made.

The pleasure island scene was a standout and Luke Evans absolutely stole the show in his scenes (Disney should put him in all their live actions!). This movie had so much heart and was really fun to watch, I would have loved watching this as a child. This movie did a great job at adding some modern references to the story of Pinocchio while still remaining true to the Disney version of the tale. I look forward to watching it again!

Ms. Marvel (2022)

A Fun Show With A Lot Of Heart
18 July 2022
When I first realized that one of her powers was that she had big hands I couldn't stop laughing. I am new to Marvel and only saw all the movies this year, so I was excited to watch this show. I didn't know what to expect but was so glad I watched this show, it was such a wonderful break from the usual Marvel content and gave us a new teen hero who had such a wonderful cultural background and passion for her culture and heritage. I really enjoyed this show and learnt a lot about the history of Pakistan. I can see so many young girls looking up to her!

I look forward to her making her way into marvel films!

Wonderful little mini series
10 July 2022
I watched the whole show in one sitting. It kept me hooked from start to finish. It didn't take itself too seriously and had me laughing out loud. The two lead actresses were so wonderful and had great chemistry. It was such a pleasure to watch this show. Definitely if you are in the mood for a teen dark comedy that campy this is it.

Gossip Girl (2021–2023)
10/10
ICONIC
10 July 2021
What a fantastic first episode. The characters that were introduced were fresh, interesting and different from the original. I have been fan of Gossip Girl since I first read the first book, and watched the original series as I journeyed through my own teen years. I was so excited and nervous when they said they were making a new Gossip Girl tv series. The first episode has exceeded every one of my expectations. It makes reference to the original series and brings the concept and entity that is gossip girl to 2021.

The show is able to bring a new twist to the story instead of replicating what has come before it. People seem to be sad that it's not like the original, but do we really want just a replica of what has already been? I think this is going to be a very exciting ride and I can't wait for some petty rich teen drama.

Snowpiercer (2020–2024)

Absolutely fantastic
12 June 2020
I am a massive fan of the movie so of course I had mixed feelings when I saw that a Netflix show had be released with the same name. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the first episode and absolutely enjoyed it. I just finished watching the latest episode and I can't wait for the next. This show gives us a deeper look into what the many lives of the train could look like, something that even in the original movie wasn't able to do to this extent. Of course it is loosely based on the movie, which has given the creative team a lot more freedom to work with. The characters are great and the acting is wonderful. Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly are absolutely superb in this show, they carry the story along at such a great pace and you really feel connected to them. I can't wait to see what this show has in store for us.

Captivating and fun to watch!
28 March 2019
There aren't a lot of horror movies made these days that compel me like this film did. From the first scene I was hooked, the soundtrack fit perfectly and the acting was outstanding. I wanted to go and see it again right after I left the cinema. I had been looking forward to this film since it was announced and it exceeded every expectation. This film was like nothing I had ever seen, it was fresh yet still had classic horror iconography with a new twist. Don't expect a movie like Get Out though because this is completely different. Can't wait to see what Jordan Peele creates next!
