Pig (2021)
A lovely story of pain and loss.. Very moving.
I rented this movie & it's been less than 24 hrs and I watched it twice.. I plan to buy it next - if that tells you anything about how I feel about it.
I loved this film and thought both Nicolas Cage and Alex Wolff did an exceptional job acting in it. It made me think of who/what I have in my life that mean the world to me and how I would feel if it was taken away from me. OR... how far i might go to get 'it' back. It really pulled at my heart-strings.
I loved the story-line where Rob (Cage) made a huge impact in so many others lives, that after 15 years of not seeing him, people remembered him in a fond way, and wanted to help him out. Several folks didn't even know he was alive but when Amir mentioned his name.. and what Rob needed they cared enough to help him out, however they could. Some of these people thought he was dead... until he showed up looking like he needed a shower, his hair grown out wearing dirty, bloody old clothes... And his face not only dirty but bloody.
I also loved Amir (Alex Wolff) and how he really cared about Rob, even though much of the time he wouldn't respond back to Amir, when Amir asked him question. And even after Rob, in his frustration, kicked the heck out of Amir's treasured Camaro. He was there for Rob, when Rob needed help, taking him wherever needed & doing whatever Rob asked him to do. You could see/feel he cared & respected Rob..
And though the ending worked well for the story, & it could have been worse.. I wish it had a happier ending. I feel there are so many movies/shows out there that don't have a happy ending.. and right now with Covid, people losing loved ones, with the negatively and hatred out there.. having a happier ending with this movie, wouldn't have changed the ratings. Many of us have had a painful year. I lost my healthy beautiful Mom unexpectedly 10/15/20 and my sweet pet and companion Molly, a small Boston Terrier on 5/25/21.
With that said, the movie did leave us knowing Rob was not going to hurt himself, Instead as he was heading back into the woods he said to Amir.. he'd see him on Thursday. (like he always). In the back of my mind.. I'm imagining Rob getting another pig, or dog, or ? To keep him company in the woods.
OH... and I loved the writing and directing also. I loved all the sounds you hear when Rob was in the woods with PIG. I camped alot growing up in the woods of Montana and Oregon & the sounds brought back some wonderful memories (minus the sound of PIG)-lol.
La valla (2020)
Better than thought it might be..
I know this show has many mixed reviews.. some say the actors over acted or made things more dramatic than needed. I do see that sometimes with foreign films and it drives me crazy. I feel it's usually done when the movie was made in another language and they basically did a voice over with English. I'm guessing those who watched it in original Spanish mode/language maybe thought about it differently than those of us who don't speak Spanish.. (wish I did).
So... I see where some were turned off because it seemed some actors were over dramatic. I usually want to give a show a fair chance to impress me and unless it's absolutely horrible.. will commit to watching 2 episodes. After that I decide if I really want to continue.
With this show... the first Episode wasn't my favorite because of what I stated just above (over acting or drama) however I liked where I thought the writer/director etc.. were going with the story. So I watched the 2nd episode and was happy I did. I wish Netflix would have picked it up for another season.
I also wish the USA would teach kids multiple languages starting in pre school or kindergarten. Like other countries. It's usually easier to learn when younger. I would have loved to know Spanish, French, Japanese and maybe Mandarin.
Lupin (2021)
Would've given it a 10 but....
I put off watching this until yesterday...I just wasn't sure I'd enjoy it. However, I was happily surprised. Great show! Gave it a 9, not 10, only because there were only 5 episodes.. I rarely give any movie or TV series a 10... but would gave w/Lupin is f only...
I'm glad this summer there will be more episodes this summer. Again though, very disappointed that there will only be 5 episodes then too. AND that we have to wait until summer to finish watching it, though it sounds like it's finished being made. Sounds like probable they will be finished w/show-(another disappointment)
#NETFLIX if the show is taped and ready to go.. plz just show it, as there are still millions at home & unable to do much, & watching their fav shows, which entertain us.
#netflix if you see this- is if possible to continue w/series? (after summers episodes).
Plz do continue w/taping Lupin-but w/10+ episodes, maybe starting early in 2022.
All the Bright Places (2020)
Love!
I feel this film was beautiful. The actors were fantastic, the places they shot were beautiful, the story was beautiful. I didn't know it was made after a book... and some judge this film against the book... it really doesn't matter in my opinion.
With this film/story-I felt the love, the sorrow, the happiness and laughter. I ended up in tears. The score for me... is really a 9.5! Well done! Thank you to those who participated in amy way in making this BEAUTIFUL film.
Tribes of Europa (2021)
The biggest negative thing, maybe only..
I really liked the show. Didn't Know if I would watching preview, but I thought characters, acting, design, makeup, sound effect.. pretty much everything was great! I just wish it would have been longer like most Netflix shows are. Maybe 10 or even 20.. Sad its over so dang fast.
Zone blanche (2017)
Great thriller, drama with several unexpected twists.
I thought this started off a bit slow and wasn't sure about acting, but the 2nd episode was better than first and by 3rd totally hooked. Great storyline. love the forest....
