About Time (2013)
Very sweet
Obviously very far fetched, however the plot is very charming. The harmony of the characters is infectious. One of my favorite romantic themed movies ever. I love Tim (Gleeson) and Mary (McAdams) as a couple and cheer for them the whole way through.
Fantastic score, and the supporting cast is stellar.
It's a sap fest, so make sure your glucose levels are on par before watching. 😊
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018)
I watched 3x in a row.
I just signed up to watch Netflix. I absolutely adore the actress Lily James and she is one of the major female leads in this sweet, charming, beautiful, and inspiring movie.
So, I turned it on, and was instantly entranced. I proceeded to watch it over and over because I did want to leave these characters.
I just downloaded the book on my eReader, so I gotta go.
Props to Matthew Goode as Sidney. He can do anything.
Searching for Sugar Man (2012)
Engrossing film
Documentary films are of course (most of the time) informative. But unfortunately, most have a violent, sad, or disturbing message as they attempt to inform or entertain the masses. Not this film. This film was a joy to watch from start to finish. You are engrossed from the moment you start watching. This was the very first documentary I have watched where I was not distracted by any outside stimulus. I found myself just as curious as the researchers were as I watched, and overjoyed at the outcome. The storyline(s) and its accompanying interviews, video footage, camera stills, and amazing soundtrack were so well put together that the journey was quite magical. I am so happy for it's Oscar win, and quite frankly this movie was heads and tails better than all the other nominations for best picture. For me, this was easily the best film of 2012.
