This film had top actors and I admit, it wasn't hard to follow. The cinematography was also beautiful--noting the many beautiful buildings which stood out for their modernness in a film made in the 40's. However, I didn't care for the message that was conveyed--especially at the end of the film. That you can get away with almost anything, as long as you dare to be different and innovative. I wonder where the Code was, by the time I saw the end of the film. Compelling from the start--but disappointing by the end of the film.

This is a great film--and unfortunately, these days, it seems like "clean movies" are not appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining film--which Don Knotts gives a riveting, rocketing appearance. Rent it for the whole family--and you'll enjoy a bellyfull of laughs. Even a moral--or lesson--to be learned from this film!
Beatiful Blonde Brings Brainy Banter

I loved this movie--but I love most old films better than the newer ones. This one was hilarious and timeless. Any schoolteacher should really love and appreciate this hilarious film. I had the great honor of meeting Mr. Romero also one time, and he was the most friendly, gracious (and good-looking) man. I didn't know he had once been a big star at one time! Ms. Grable showed she had fantastic comedic timing in the hilarious well-colored flick. If you love to laugh like I do--watch it! Shows Ms. Grable had brains, as well as looks!

OK--so the name turned me off too--and I thought--Mr. Rock and Roll and Colonel--what in tarnation are you shaking here?? Yet--as I succumbed to watch this silly modern-day "Road to Scarum" film--I began enjoying it. OK--I admit, I'm biased. As I listened to so many of "the King of Rock and Roll's" songs--I couldn't help falling in love with Elvis--as imperfect as he was. What I read about him--he seemed like such a nice guy--caring about others and a phenomenal talent!
Mary Anne Mobley is a beautiful sight to see in this film (I'm biased towards her also!)--the movie is cute and has a lot of funny action. I like "feel good" movies, which I don't think you see nowadays--that the whole family can watch--and Elvis did alot of them, even if he didn't get to showcase his great acting range--which he definitely had. But it's still a cute movie. Good humor--action and romance--is underrated.

Great, old-fashioned musical for the family. As we began watching this action-packed musical, we were a little confused at first. I love the plot, which is loosely based on the true story of the Biddle family of Philadelphia. I loved the fact that the story is about a Christian man who is rich and even eccentric! Played by Fred MacMurray, one of my favorites, he showcases a great singing talent. Leslie Anne Warren made her debut in this film and also shows her dancing, singing talent, as well as acting (and looks beautiful in her costumes). The scenery caught my eye, but at first, I thought there was too much singing and dancing. I think Robert Sherman, who wrote the beautiful songs for "Mary Poppins" could have composed some better, more catchy tunes. (Although "Detroit" had been on my mind a long time after the movie). Tommy Steele is absolutely adorable. (I loved when he was speaking to the camera and Fred MacMurray, Mr. Biddle, asks, "Who are you talking to?" Hilarious.
John Davidson also looks great and showcases his singing, dancing and acting talents in his debut performance. What kept me watching during this long movie, at first, was the scenery and the alligator pets! I think this was a great film, but the songs, again, could have been better--to keep viewers better engaged. (Maybe not so many songs, also). The ending was a bit disappointing--maybe could have showed the alligators just one more time to add humor. But, all in all, a great family film. I applaud Walt Disney films!
