Barbie (2023)
I little better than just ok
I'm not a fan of modern day musicals. I strongly disliked LaLaLand, could never get through it. Barbie on the other hand I watched all the way through even though I thought it was sugary sweet. Ick. Peer pressure, "ya gotta see it!" The last 15 minutes of dialogue in the movie was very good. Actually wish I would have just watched that last 15 minutes rather than the entire movie. The actors/actresses I felt did a good job on their characters. It would have been better, in my opinion, if Barbie was an actual movie without all the plastic sets, the portal from land to sea etc. With all the technology out there surely the sets could have been realistic.
Monarch (2022)
Give it a try
Not sure why this series is getting such a bad rep. I like it, found it entertaining. Certainly not like Yellowstone or 1883 so far as popularity or script content but it is good. It's sort of a Dynasty type show, cut throat family values. If you like country music give this show a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. Besides, it has Susan Sarandon in it! I'm not familiar with the other actors but I feel they did a pretty good job. The show has a diverse group of people acting keeping in line with real America. Not sure about Bill Maher's gushing...does anyone really watch his show these days? Anything with Bill Maher is not worth watching anymore.
Sweet Girl (2021)
Why? I just can't
I'm not one to give bad reviews but really people, this one is not worth watching. I cannot understand how someone I find as a good actor like Jason Momoa would sign on for this one. I couldn't watch the whole movie. It was not entertaining, unrealistic fighting, bad acting, really not good at all. It's one of those "now I can't unsee that" type of movies...and not in a good way.
Ride the Eagle (2021)
Sweet movie
I loved this movie from the beginning. It was funny and inspirational. A movie with a message for everyone to not only look within but don't forget to look around you. Make your life more than just a memory, enjoy and be grateful every moment that creates the memory.
Irresistible (2020)
Mr. Stewart, take a bow
Wow! What a great movie. All the twists and turns of political campaigning, super PACs, dirt and mud plus all the crap that goes into politics.
This is a movie about a small town with real problems where politicians make a stop to campaign making big promises (lies), asking for (ripping off) tons of donations from everyday people trying to make an honest living. It gives a glimpse into the lives of people on both sides---the politicians and media vs the citizens or little guys. The movie made me laugh, made me angry, made me happy--pretty much in that order.
When you watch it, make sure your watch through the credits. They are worth your time.
Life of the Party (2018)
Hysterical
I strongly dislike it when all the funny parts of a movie are in a trailer. That was not the case with this movie. It was fresh and absolutely hysterically funny. This has to be my favorite Melissa McCarthy movie thus far. Go see it, you will not be disappointed!
Instinct (2018)
I liked it!
I came across this show by accident and watched the second episode. The actors are great and I love the plot. It reminds me of a blend of Elementary and Lie To Me. I hope to see this show succeed as it should.
