American Reunion (2012)
The best American Pie Movie
American Pie was great. The sequels weren't so good. They were juvenile and fell flat because the humor was too obvious and dumb. But American Reunion was awesome! It had great believable storyline, character development, and well-placed physical humor like the original American Pie. It brought back the nostalgia of the high school years of the '90s while commenting on current times.
I brought a friend who has never seen the American Pie series, and she laughed throughout the entire movie. Seann William Scott aka "Stifmeister" carries American Reunion just as he did in the original American Pie.
Sometimes you can tell a movie is going to bomb when you see the trailers. If the trailers are really funny, chances are the comedy is going to be a dud because all the funny moments are shown in the trailers.
Trust me. The trailer does not do this movie a justice for a reason. You can not fit all funny moments in the trailer.
***Movie contains graphic images*** Word of advice: wait until the credits end for a nice surprise
You, Me and Dupree (2006)
A terse summary
I went to see the movie with a couple of friends to kill time in the suburbia and I wasn't very impressed. More than half of the funny one liners were shown on the trailers so it was not very funny. Owen Wilson still is an awesome actor but I can't help feeling that without Vince Vaughn his jokes fall flat. You need someone with a deviant, wicked humor like Vaughn to balance the sweet, lovable comic acts of Wilson. My general impression for the whole movie was Owen Wilson gets into all these scrapes like a cute puppy and Jason Lee just gets angry at him. Seriously the only thing remotely funny uttered by Lee was calling Dupree gay because he wrote poetry. Great wit. The acting was great, the plot was a novel attempt, but it didn't leave much room for character growth. You can't really connect with these people because they have everything going for them and in the end they realize that they indeed do have everything they always wanted.
