The Neverending Story (1984)
The Neverending Story wins
Well, the Golden Star Awards may not be the Academy Awards, but we felt that this film deserved some recognition for the hard work that went into making it! :) The Golden Star Awards is an amateur awards academy that awards movies for brilliant work. We are based in South Africa and have completed over thirty awards ceremonies. The winners do not actually receive a statue, but they will remain immortal online! Have a look: http://thegoldenstarawards.blogspot.com/
The Neverending Story was at the 21st Golden Star Awards and won a total of 12 awards...that means it is one of the films that has won the most Golden Star Awards. A brilliant film that is well deserving of all the recognition that it has received!
Faith Like Potatoes (2006)
Amazing!
I am only 30, so I do not have a huge amount of films to talk about, but I have to say, I have never been as touched by any film, as I have been by this one! Francois Rautenbach impressed me so much! His performance was absolutely astounding! It is a pity that films with Christain themes tend to fade in the light of large Hollywood movies, but if you give them a chance, you will find a heart and spirit, that few big budget movies can ever create! The cinematography is amazing, and the music is like silk. What more could a movie goer ask for than brilliant acting, brilliant cinematography and brilliant music? It might be a South African tale, but it is more a story of how one man finds God in a world where he cannot find anything...his life was as dry as the barren land he tried to farm, and with a little faith in the Lord, his life, like his farm, become a place where great things can take form! So, no matter who you are, or where you live, this film will touch you and teach you that faith can move mountains.
Steven Curtis Chapman: The Live Adventure (1993)
What a man...what a message!
Steven Curtis Chapman is for sure the most successful male contemporary pop gospel artist of all time! The first time I ever heard of him, I was in a CD store, and I decided to buy one of his masterpieces! This concert is a testament to what he does! You can see by the crowd that he has an energy that only God can give to someone! His music is not only great to listen to, but the message in his music is life changing. He has come very far in his career, and I wish him all the best for the future. If you are back-sliding or trying to find a message from God, then watch this concert, you will be changed for the better! Steven Curtis Chapman has a message, open yourself and listen...God is speaking to you! Amen!
Shadowlands (1993)
The dream vs reality
Shadowlands, for me, is a film about dreams overshadowed by reality. In the film, there is this gradual move towards love that has a hauntingly realistic pace. Only to be shattered later by a sudden gash of cold reality! This film reminds us all to be grateful for the moments in our lives that make our hearts sing, and remember that the pain now is part of the happiness then...that's the deal. Watching the movie after my father's death made me realize what those words really mean. We are all going to die, but it is the way we live that will determine the sadness of our death. I have no answers anymore, just the life I live. "We live in the Shadowlands..."
