Blue Bloods: USA Today (2021)
i take it back
I thought season 11 was bad. This is another terrible episode. This is going down faster than bud light stock. What are they thinking with these ridiculous castings with ridiculous essence sucking parts .
It has become a series abouty little petty people pretending victimhood is a virtue. Arrogant non achievers I am getting this needs to be realistic but relity were this is reeal or desirable is not how the world works... Granted this series is a lot longer than series like the wire but maybe it should have ended after season 7. Linda goe was the first sign... somebody needs to fire sone writers and the casting director.
Blue Bloods (2010)
Burnt to 10 seasons might not finish 11
The casting my god... had to come and check if it would continue through to 2023... It does... how to kill a franchise... I had it at 8-9 up until this cheap casting .
Guess it took a long time..
The writing went down the drain , the casting went from did nothing wrong to neck shot in a few episodes
I actually enjoyed this. Tom Selleck and Wahlberg are phenomenal as ever but the casting and the writing make me wonder how on earth this still had two seasons after this... . I ve seen most of the Sopranos pass through, a lot of actors from the wire , Band of brother and they were all nicely fit in appropriate characters . And then they bring you this.
Tulsa King (2022)
Great show for half of the time.
First of all . I like this series.. I m glad it gets a second season.
The bad things first. Some of the writing is pathetic... like the funeral scene with his sister or the dialogue after at the table.
The entitlement and disrespect propagated here as virtue is disgusting exg. Also the table seen with the brat daughter.
The good.. eyecandy, Stallone is legendary... most of the actors are unknown but have some great moments on screen.
I m really liking Max Casella here and Martin Starr really brings his A game .. Garret Hedlund is a great supporting actor and i m seeing him getting more prominent role next season.
I ll update my rating when I finish the last two episodes.
Medici (2016)
very decent with some AMAZING roles despite the historical discrepancies
This show is pure eye candy... Dustin Hoffman plays a great villain but is easily surpassed by sean bean in the second season. I never imagined hating anything Sean Bean did but I hated Pazzi... Brilliant acting. Let's not forget madden who was still stuck in his Rob Stark role but managed to play a similar but far different character here.
The soundtrack and music seem heavily inspired by game of thrones as well but i am unaware of the link between the composer Paolo Buonvino and GoT .
The story depicts one of the most colorful of Italian history in the post-roman empire history.
People who watched any off the Borgia shows (both very enjoyable) will see the tie-ins and appreciate teh other side-POV of the story.
There are things we need to get used to from a historical standpoint and a casting standpoint but such is Hollywood .
The greatest performace though comes from Johnny Harris as. Bruno Bernardi/Batista. Such a perfect fit for the role he plays and the only thing i knew this man of was RocknRolla. A thing I ll remedy asap.
If you enjoy historical drama without rivetcounting this series is absolutely worth the watch.
The Rookie: A.C.H. (2021)
slightly better than abysmal 3th season
But this episode is the second in a row to disappoint . If CRT was on the menu at tel aviv Mc Donalds this would be the happy meal. Pre-chewed easy to swallow but detrimental to your health. Most actors are likeablt but these get vert little screentime. The villains and heroes are almost all mary-sue roles and get tiresome quick.
The Rookie: Revelations (2021)
Writing matters
I was wrong in my last review.. This episode is worse. Normalization of political and terrorist group adherance. The first season was pretty good this is just straight from the tel aviv brainwash divison.
The Rookie: In Justice (2021)
beyond bait and switch
My god this series started out nice.. the tickbox casting wasnt even bothering me but this is getting worse every episode... This one is so filled with narratives and preaching it s ridiculous.
1883 (2021)
very nice so far
This series is more than just Sam Elliot... even though he s such a wonderful actor for this role especially side by side with LaMonica Garrett. I only recently discovered this prequel to yellowstone, which liked up until se4.
So far this series is plagued with less woke and gets it s diversity quota from decent well written characters ( written after ep 4 in seasion1 ) , The cinematography and landscapes are pure eyecandy. Tim McGraw is a great protagonist likeable enough to forgive his unpolished side. I have high hopes for this series . Lets hope by abraham's beard it s not another bait and switch.
Edit after ep 8: This went south real fast. Lot of preaching lot of fiction too little Gwynne .
Beforeigners (2019)
Double woke for the second season.
From magic= super-abraham to suuper-magic-black detectice leads a road full of lectures normalization and anti nordic nonsense, Liked teh first season . Cant watch this.
Dexter: Run (2012)
Debra Boohoo Morgan
This series goes downhill fast despite legionnaire Titus Pullo carrying the show. The cast seems lost in a bumbling rushed script written by a burned out writer. The only reason watching this is to see that laguerta woman die.
Yellowstone (2018)
absolute eye-candy
I love this series and would ve rated it a 7 or even 8 had it not been because of the wokeness,,, the misportrayal of females as whores or unloyal when meeting the slightest resistance. The new season had some jabs for the woke crowd but overal it s clear which religion the writers had, A lot of lying and falsehoods be it Columbus or Nietschze or just using white as an adjective or insult.
The show itself is beautiful though some characters are useless , some you hate with a passion some you love to appoint you re happy GRR Martin isnt writing this. The cast does a beautiful job . Kelly Reilly clearly taps from the same barrel as Gleeson but with a charming greater-good touch to it. Costner gets to play a rounded likeable anti hero that mixed all his former best roles under one giant hat. Cole Hauser is amazing as Rip going from redemption back to start and back to redemption.
Wess Bentley brings class and (american beauty-) creepiness as if the character was written for him this man brings it all , He doesnt even need speaking lines to mould a scene. Honorable mentions to Jefferson White and a great Forrie J Smith.
Gil Birminghams is amazing too warrior-spirit wrapped in a classy 3-piece suit
Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille are more of annoyance then protagonists ,due to bad writing maybe ,they fail to convince, If they kill anyone off this season please let it be one of these . And walker ofcourse pls kill of Walker
There is something for everyone to enjoy the wokeys get at least 1 in 3 episodes. And a useless Steven Williams for an entire season 2
Fourth season seems promising . Fingers crossed.
TLDR: Woke Eye=candy still a must see.
Yellowstone: New Beginnings (2019)
Wokey McWoke
I m re-watching this series. I was lucky enough to be able to binge watch these first three seasons and I loved it. But episodes like this really stick in my craw. The brainwashing for illiterates is so painful . Read books goyim and dont fall for the lies.
Bones: Mayhem on a Cross (2009)
Research ladies
This is the lamest representation of Black metal and/or scandinavians so far (22 y ago), But Gordon Gordon is back and that s about the best representation of great Brits so far (Fry and Laurie ftw)
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Bait and switch
First of all the casting of the young versions of the old Sopranos is very well do . They look, walk and talk the part, Very good acting.
But that s where it ends... You expect Sopranos but you get WokeyMcwoke , A little sugar on top to make your medicine go down and only just enough Soprano-related-sugar to swallow they woke crap they wove into it with a thread so far fetched it s completely irrelevant maybe even historically ridiculous to still pander to those that probably never watch this and and annoy the real fans. . I could ve gone without watching this and I get the Producer torturing fans with loose threads like the russian but this is just uncalled for.
The Mentalist (2008)
ten years later.
This show s pretty great . Even now still. Rewatching it. The cast is great and the people in it are very affable and well played. The season 5 finale is very anticlimactic and season 6 seems uninspired and is only carried by the old cast from previous season and to add to the disaster Pedro Pascal comes in to play another version of Pedro Pascal... . Did they run out of money for talent or did they just want to finish up their seven season contract asap?
These gripes aside this show is funny and original within it s cliche setting. The first five seasons are worth watching .. even ten years later.
Bron/Broen (2011)
great first season mediocre second but stellar third
I felt compelled to leave some notes after finishing the third season.
This series is great. Great actors and without the pomp other , mostly american, crime-series need or use. There is something about the cinematography and use of music the scandinavians get right.
The first season was awesome , Sofia Helin whom I had only seen before in the Arn the knight's Templar series , doe s a great job. Kim Bodnia does a really great Martin but after a underwhelming second season and his malcontent with not being granted suffcient privileges as a certain-religion-man it s a relief to see him go in season 3.
Thure Lindhardt , whom I only knew as Guthred in the Bernard Cornwell inspired series "the l;ast Kingdom", is an amazing replacement. I never liked him as Guthred , nor did I like Guthred which may be why I didnt fully appreciate him in TL.
I am starting Season 4 but had to review early.. I ll edit if my opnion changes. Must see for every scandinavian/noir/drama/crime- enthousiast.
Marco Polo (2014)
my 2cents
I only realized this series was cancelled (and since 2016 ) . It s a shame i enjoyed it... It was eyecandy despite it s unreliability when it comes to historical accuracy... This eries is fiction from A to Z ... i m not sure about the costumes etc but the chraters are fiction the morals they use , the anti christian anti-white narrative.
The mary sue has been widely accepted and even expected in netflix creations and once again it didnt disappoint.
Apart from these gripes that are common in most enteratainment creations that arent interested in history the series is enjoyable and Benedict Wong does an amazing Kublai Khan. The show is beautiful from the start... horrifying at times... Captivating despite it s cliche and unpriginal plotflow and subplots... recommended to anyone who doesnt care or knows better about history.
Romulus (2020)
Justified Score..so far.
I am no movie critic or authority whatsoever. I am European with a great fondness of our history. I am writing this after Ep.6 and will edit if the series evolves and changes my opinion.
This series is a pretty good series so far. I love the Latin ... i love the little details grounded in history... . Most of the series is not historically correct not even close some of nowadays hot topics have been incorporated which would justlfiably annoy the historically educated viewer , beyond that point the series is very watchable and the protagonists are fairly likeable... . It s marvel in an historical setting and i believe it s rewatchability is rather inexesitent.. unlike series like "Rome" this will be nice to watch but easily forgotten too
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Great series, greater books but the casting is questionable at times.
I will edit this comment when I have finished the last book releasing this month.
I love this series because it set me onto the books which I love more.
I had issues with Alexander Dreymon being Uthred... even before reading the books.. mainly because I was used to Travis Kimmel's Ragnar in Vikings.
For the record...this is not vikings... far from it... The books are better... . The series is close once you get used to the casting.
Many years and almost the entire saxon series later I appreciate Alexander Dreymon's devotion to the role.. He beefed up ..gained charisma ... caught up almost to the Mighty Uthred from the books despite the fair hair and the imposing physique . His casting wasn't problematic and some casting is absolutely great even if not corresponding to their book versions... Beocca (Ian Hart), Aelswith (Eliza Buttersworth)Thyra (Julia Bache-Wiig, who almost goes uncredited but we know from Max Manus), Finan (Mark Rowley), Pyrlig (Cavan Clerkin)... and most importantly David Dawson' s Alfred! Great actors and great portrayals... .
Undoubtedly the people I underappreciate in their roles here are aswell but Brida as a protagonist is a great turnoff and the further into the series the more she wanders from the awesome c+nt she is in the books (where she hardly ever plays a significant role) . The viking warriors are cast without any respect for the books and seem to be barely able to lift a starbucks latee for more than 2 consecutive times... let alone sword shield armor etc... Exceptions are the two Ragnars ( Tobias Santelmann and Peter Gantzler) , Rutger Hauer's Ravn . Sigtryggr on the other hand despite a good to great performance by the otherwise unknown to me actor Eysteinn Sigurðarson makes it hard to get through season 4 for me... despite his scenes with Stiorra being some of the most enjoyable scenes in the entire season.
Maybe these are petty things to bring up... maybe I ll edit this review as the last book or future seasons change my mind... .
I love this series though and it has it all for the casual viewer with a love... to the history-buff with a forgiving attitude. The good guys are likeable and the bad guys really gut-wrenching loathsome and most are not black and whitely-stereotypical. I Gave my rating with the books in mind.. which they managed to respect despite a fair amount of creative license and missed chances.
They really ruined so many plot lines and characters in that last season. I hesitated to watch it after finishing the books. No confrontation of the brothers, no epicaly poetic swordfights. No marvelous Aethelstan . No ddeply evil Brida .. no complexity or plot. Such a shame.
Torden (2020)
Great story..dubious casting English spoken
First of all the english title is not even close to Torden is original Norwegian title and takes away a lot of appeal and forbearing from this great movie.
I love this movies' story and cant help to read lot into it. Is it about a return to our old Heritage? The poisonous and devastating consequences of the diverse anti-protagonists? Let's find out... First the negative... The casting of Nat Wolff... He did a good job.. his acting skills are not the reason I dislike him as the main character , he represents a lineage that is hardly visible , despite his wandering of to america and returning to the old soil and whatever might have happened there. Most people will not be bothered by this but I have spent many hours reading about my heritage.and feel a closer physical match would have been appropriate. The casting of his nemesis which initially bothered me (before realizing her role) ticks all the boxes in the end. Most annoying of all this is the american of Norwegian descent -protagonist forces 99pct of this movie to be in English... Norwegian would have been so much more immersive and appropriate.
What did I like .. the underdog turning out to be a hero. The wandering off and returning to his roots to reclaim glories of a past long forgotten , Remembering brings back a power long left slumbering. I love the research put in this... .Járngreipr , Mjollnir and megingjörð are seldom seen depicted so realistic ( despite being never noticed by casual or "wandered" viewers . .)
The movie is not perfect but the landscapes are eye-candy..The cgi is kept to a subtle and realistic level , the supporting characters are kept relevant enough to advance the story and keep a flimsy subplot contributing enough. André Øvredal loves his Norwegian landscapes too I am sure , as was visible in the only other film of his I saw.. Trolljegern. .
Borgia (2011)
The different Borgia
First of all I am no movie critique ,especially not in the sense of a nowadays "expert".I am not very eloquent and English is not my first language... I seldom write reviews but I felt some praises were in order . I am writing this after watching Season one so I hope my high esteem of this series will last for two more seasons. before I started this series I had just watched the American version..as with every political series it is fascinating how formalities and protocol mix with intrigues... . I cannot judge the historical accuracies of neither of the two series, that both have a very different take on events, but the similarities are fascinating and must hopefully have their base in history. For English speaking viewers this European version might be odd at times with all the many different accents but it has a charm of its own and seems to fit the many different nationalities of the many characters. John Doman, whom I loved in as Rawls in "the Wire", brings a heavy ,what i presume is NY,-accent to teh series and needed a little of getting used to but his performance is excellent and soon the accents felt as if it was perfectly suiting his role. I somehow prefer his portrayal over that pf Jeremy Irons despite loving his take on Rodrigo Borgia very much...I cannot say why. The character I enjoyed the most up until now is Simon Larvaron 's Charles VIII ... the actor itself seems to never have pursued many roles but this one is a joy to behold .
Beomjoidosi (2017)
Great movie
I am european and not familiar with asian cultures...which means i probably lost a lot of the humor and details, but i ve always been fond of these kind of movies.
The actors succeed in standing out and building report with the viewer. The plotline is nothing new butt the setting and unfolding is well done and the two hours passed by as if it was a blink of the eye. I hope to see something new from this director and lead-actor soon.
The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)
Reynolds carries the film.
This was a giant disappointment. Jackson, resembling ET more every day, at an all time low is more of a nuisance than a asset to every scene he does... the story is not the most original and Ryan brings his usual light-footed touch to his role. I looked forward to watching this but the disappointment kicks in halfway and steadily increases til the end.
