The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Horrendous
If you enjoyed The Sopranos steer clear of this garbage film. An insult to the brilliant series and characters. HOH!
Cry Macho (2021)
Hm.
Clint. I love you. Who doesn't but maybe hire a better film editor? Also, the acting was...
Real Women Have Curves (2002)
Eye roll
America Fererra is great, the message is good, but the cliches in this movie had me rolling my eyes. If I were the main character I would've said late! Screw all of you I'm going to college, I'm 18 and can't be forced to work in a sweatshop. But then there would be no movie. This one has not aged well.
False Positive (2021)
Why such a low rating?
This movie is bonkers but it did capture my attention for the entire duration.. yes it's a rosemarys baby rip off and pretty misguided but I went in expecting a Lifetime movie and it was better! Just take it with a grain.
Moxie (2021)
Cute and good message but...
I loved it until about an hour in, when girl goes off the rails and it gets out of control. Um, you can't vandalize the school and nothing happens to you because you're an angry female. Her mother needed badly to discipline her. Other than that it was a fun watch.
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020)
Riveting
I was rapt from the beginning. The performances were captivating. It plays like a play, because it is, but really worked for me. So sad to lose such a performer as Boseman.
Replicas (2018)
W..ow
This movie is so terrible and nonsensical that I have no words. I just pictured them spitballing "duuude it's like The Matrix but with Clones. And Robots!" Keanu was basically William Shakespeare compared to the other actors in this. Hope he was paid well for this abortion.
We Are Who We Are: Right Here Right Now II (2020)
Age?
How old is this chick supposed to be? I thought she was like 15/16, why is she getting her first period??
Indian Matchmaking (2020)
WOW
That was the most horrible ending of any show I have ever seen. They made us get invested in these individuals and their matches or lack thereof, and in the end just abandoned every storyline that we were ever following for anyone. No resolution, no cohesive ending. Dumb made no sense. Disappointed.
After Life (2019)
Life affirming
I was already sad before I started watching, knowing I would binge it in one day and it would be over soon.
Medical Police (2020)
Absurd
Yes it's absurd and silly but it's David Wain, so what do you expect? If you're a fan of The State you will enjoy this.
Forever (2018)
Please come back!!
I just rewatched it because I missed it so much, and the season upon 2nd watch just went by way too fast. I am dying (heh) for a 2nd Season Please! I especially love Noah Robbins' character and hope to see more of him as well. Just a gem of a show.
Stranger Things (2016)
S3 SO sad
I am so very sad to write this review, I struggled and struggled to love season 3 but I was sorrrrrely disappointed. Many of the scenes dragged on and on and MANY storylines were not explained, such as the main one!! Why the F did the Russians even want to open the gate in the freakin first place?? And WHYYY WAS my beloved Hopper killed off?!?! WTF. He was pretty much my main reason for limping along with it. Just too much ridiculousness and sloppy story telling. It seemed they sacrificed any semblance of a coherent story for the campiness of over the top 80s nostalgia and not to mention beat- you-over- the -head product placement. Too much winking at the viewer with cutesy references. I'm done. Shark done jumped.
The Dirt (2019)
Good for what it was
This movie is derived from the book, The Dirt, so there is going to be an element of clownishness about it, since it's derived from the stories each of the band members told. So there's no comparison to say, Bohemian Rhapsody which was a serious biopic. I was fully satisfied by it, as a reader of the book they pretty much covered all the territory. Fun, and enjoyable if you're not expecting a brooding serious movie about Motley Crue.
Mr. Mercedes (2017)
Better than Book
I read the book and overall did not enjoy it. I actually had to force myself to finish it- I found it super draggy in parts and I thought Hodges came off as cheesy, not tough and grumpy and awesome like the amazing Brendan Gleeson portrays him. I love the series so far, the actors and acting is excellent, and it's really well done. MUCH better than the book IMO.
