Green Book (2018)
A tale of two minorities
Good cast, good acting, good banter. A good look at 1960s American segregation. The film has some deep nuances but moves along a generally proven track of sentimental lines. Somewhat a tale of two minorities - the other Italian. Still wholesome good drama. A surprise turn from this famously comedy director. In addition, pretty relevant in today's times. #BLM
On the Basis of Sex (2018)
Smart movie
The intricacies of the law aren't simplified for the audience. The script includes the nuance and the rhetoric that good law movies carry. The trial scenes are without the thrill we are usually accustomed to, usually in crime movies, instead it has drama and weight in the social aspect that particular case had. We are hooked into thinking about this issue of gender, and then trying to think of a smart justification of the case with Ruth's character. Basically the director, and the writer, laid out the entire case in front of us, then neatly arranged all the arguments into a tight brief as the one her secretary typed. You will also like the mental aspect of this film, where you thought you've lined up all your ducks only to get it shot down by very smart arguments. Good script! And very good acting by Felicity. Very caring support from Armie. And a beautiful surprise for the ending 👌🏽
Joker (2019)
THIS is the Joker in the comics
I think this hews closer to the Joker in the comics. Ledger's Joker was pretty good, but so so very smart. This one is just..Joker. Very good helming by director. I'm sure the editing and sounds will also get a nod in the Oscars. It's good they have De Niro there. The style of filming and setting of the film follows one of his classics. There was a subplot there that didn't pan out I don't if it was in the comics, but that would have a good source material for another Batman edition. And of course, Phoenix got his craft down in this movie. Character development 👌🏽 Warning: this is a serious film!
Homeland: Parabiosis (2015)
Big loophole in this episode
Carrie arranges to meet Saul and conspicuously leaves out the most damning information about Allison from the cellphone. Smh
Re:Born (2016)
Boots
Anyone know what boots Tak is wearing in the woods?
Like Father (2018)
Enjoyable enough
Nice so-so drama, with enough humor. But Kristen Bell is really the draw, refreshing, and just nice!
The Catcher Was a Spy (2018)
Fair fare
Good actors, good locations, good production. But needed more thrill in the script. And still doesn't really explain much of this person.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Least exciting of the Star Wars franchise
It's a good crime thriller joy ride on its own but you just can't help thinking all the time that this is not the real Han or the Han we already know. First you have to forget that this is a Star Wars film and you might enjoy it.
