Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (2007)
the worst remake ever
I, like many other Bachchan fans, having been eagerly awaiting the remake of Sholay. This movie was not it. Thank god they didn't let them use the name "Sholay" in the movie title. Ram Gopal's remake is not worthy of the title. The camera work, the locations, the costumes, the totally out-of-place dancing, the dialogue all combined to make the worst movie I have ever seen. You wonder if the cast of actors agreed to make this movie because they needed money and Ram Gopal was paying a lot of money for the cast. The only non-paid actor, the ant, was the only resemblance to the first movie. Abishek's role was totally ridiculous, did he need money to pay for the wedding to Ash? Save your money, your mind and your time, don't bother with this movie or the DVD when that comes out.
Jesus Camp (2006)
Christian madrassa in your backyard
well, the Christian fundamentalists are out there and they are brainwashing their children. this movie was as scary as any documentary on Islam fundamentalists and their religious schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan; but based in the Midwest United States. Brainwashing children to believe that they have committed sins and that they can pray for what ever they want; talking in tongues; homeschooling them in one viewpoint without other viewpoints available....scary!!!! and it's in your neighborhood....coming to a city or town near you....and the best part was Rev. Ted Haggard from Colorado Springs, of course, before he admitted to a homosexual liaison and using drugs
Krrish (2006)
Indian superhero
I love Bollywood movie, especially Hrithik Roshan and finally, Bollywood gets around to making an excellent superhero movie and one that they didn't borrow the idea from (that i know of ). Hrithik Roshan does some excellent stunts ala Crouching Tiger and some excellent dance moves ala Hrithik Roshan. The plot is good and the evil bad guy is good. the plot had an unexpected twist that added to the movie. The girls, however, were definitely Bollywood "blondes"...they really didn't have to be that gorgeous and THAT stupid, did they? the first part of the movie really had some fun to it and was lighthearted and had wonderful scenery. the second part was also great, but didn't show enough of Singapore. this was all in all, a great sequel to Koi Mil Gaya.
