Bad Sisters: Saving Grace (2022)
Predictable ending
I was really hoping for an amazing plot twist that would make your head spin but ended up really disappointed. The writers gave away that it was Grace who was the murderer in the first episode when she lied about where she was the night JP died, and it couldn't have been the sisters because that was the obvious answer which they wanted you to think from the very start. It was all a bit too much of a happy ending wrapped up in a nice little bow for my taste. Nobody lost in the end.
And why did none of them think about withdrawing the insurance claim from the very start to be rid of all problems?
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Stretched out, barely any new information
I feel like most of the reviews here that speak of the pair being "whining" are too harsh. I don't think they're whining, just explaining their side of the story. As a royal it is not deemed acceptable to go on tv and explain all the ins and outs of a situation. Now that they're out of there, especially after having the world wide media make assumptions about you, I think it's only natural that they want to explain their side.
The documentary can be entertaining to watch if you haven't got anything else to watch, but I do think they unnecessarily stretched it out to six episodes. So much of it we already knew and there's barely any new information.
Rhythm + Flow (2019)
Must-watch if you're into hiphop & rap!
Really entertaining to watch. Only competition show where people are allowed and therefore do curse every other sentence! The challenges are fun, especially enjoyed the rap battle. I personally love Cardi but her critiquing is a bit... idk... obviously she's a world-class talent and knows a lot about rapping and stuff, I just feel like when she's commenting on the contestants performance she doesn't really know what she's talking about so she copies what Chance or Tip just said or just spews nonsense. But, still enjoyed watching her.
Can't wait for season 2!
Daybreak (2019)
Starts off nice, but then... meh
There are some aspects I like about the show: the main character is a good actor, there are several funny moments (like the American Ninja Idol stuff), it has a few funny references to cult classics, and it has these kind of meta-elements where characters comment on Daybreak being a Netflix show etc.
It's just... the story doesn't make any sense for me. Like the explanation behind important plot points is just stupid, dumb, and very unsatisfactory. I guess the producers wanted it to be this kind of "ridiculous-funny", but it's definitely not working for me. Some episodes are just extremely random - in a bad way.
Please come out with something better, Netflix 🙁
Prank Encounters (2019)
Watch Scare Tactics instead!
I love prank shows and love Gaten Matarazzo but he really screwed the pooch with this one.
Why does he narrate everything that's happening? The constant "cut back to *insert name*" or "Cue the scare in 3... 2... 1" not only ruins the surprise for the viewer but also makes it feel very child-like. We can see for ourselves what is happening. Scare Tactics over this any day!
Some of the pranks have great potential but are not really well-executed. Like there is a long backstory in several episodes and then all these details are not really used to their full potential Of course we want it to be weird and stuff you wouldn't believe, but this takes it to a whole new level of unbelievable.
Also it is widely advertised on Instagram and by Gaten himself that "nothing like this has ever been done". Seriously?
But yeah, still entertaining if you have nothing to watch.
Dark (2017)
German brother of Stranger Things
Amazing show. It keeps you wanting for more. In my opinion, it is even better than Stranger Things. The sci-fi elements and jaw-dropping twists make for a gripping plot.
When a show makes you question your own reality, you know the creators did an amazing job! Can't wait for season 2!
Alta mar (2019)
Titanic meets Murder on the Orient Express
No masterpiece here but entertaining watch. A few good actors, nice costumes & decor. Recommend as an easy binge.
Jane the Virgin (2014)
BRILLIANT one-of-a-kind telenovela
This is a meta-telenovela that comments and pokes fun at its own genre. Absolutely brilliantly done!!! Gina Rodriguez (Jane), Jaime Camil (Rogelio), Yael Groblas (Petra) and of course the narrator bring this show to life. Maybe a little bit far fetched at times (especially the parts about Rose), but a masterpiece nonetheless.
Someone Great (2019)
Pretty good for the genre
I thought it wasn't a super predictable traditional Hollywood ending, which is good, and actually very relatable and fun. For the romcom genre this is one of the better ones I've seen lately. It also made me cry 😭 Definitely recommend!!
