The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (2023)
GMAB LOL
These reviews about how people at Netflix should be ashamed of themselves for producing this, are ridiculous. This is a fascinating and engaging strange story with a bizarre ending. Clearly the way that this dude was raised caused severe mental and emotional trauma. As heart breaking as that is, his disgusting behavior cannot be justified. What is a lie? What is the truth? A marriage of the age of information given to us by social media and perceptions. What is a modern day "hero"? Is being a "Robin Hood" and supposed vigilante for justice justified? All good and interring questions this doc proposes. Also the reporter in the doc is a complete smoke show if that makes a difference.
Dopesick (2021)
I am not easily impressed but...
This series is excellent. As a sober addict I have a very discerning eye when it comes to all film and tv addressing addiction. That said this show is excellent.
The characters are real and legitimate examples of how addiction grabs a community with a strangle hold and won't let go.
This is some of the best acting across the board, I've seen for a while Michael deserved his Emmy and Kaitlyn Dever is an excellent breakout star. You will want to CHOKE Richard Sackler by the end. Looses one star because the constant going back and forth in time wears a little thin
In total Purdue made 34 BILLION dollars off of the addiction of the American people.
If they are not the lowest, most disgusting putrid company ever, I don't know what is.
A must watch!
The Case Against Adnan Syed (2019)
Drawn out waaaaaay longer than it needed to be
I am a very avid documentary and true crime watcher.
I'm not sure why this is reviewed so positively by critics and considered such a triumph.
First this doc is drawn our way longer than it needed to be. This could have been three episodes.
For example they go over and over whether something happened on a certain day when it is CLEAR witnesses are not going to agree and will always contradict each other.
Also how much of a total idiot do you have to be to play up the fact that you're Muslim in jail and court? We KNOW that there is a HUGE prejudice against that religion. Der
Bottom line: I think he totally did it but not in the cold blooded way they assume. I think he got in a fight/argument w the victim that went too far and he killed her in a crime of passion. Also the film makers of this doc did it such a disservice with WAY too many people who didn't really matter and dragging it out.
Doesn't deserve the praise it's gotten imo.
The Rachel Divide (2018)
So disappointing... boring
I was really interested in watching this and learning more about her story.
The majority of this documentary wasn't really about her story and how it affected people. It was mostly nuts watching her day to day with her sons (driving around, going to school etc.) ZZZZZZ
She originally to a lot for the community and the NAACP. I have to say HOW did the black people who knew her did not know or suspect that this woman is white? I mean come on! She looks like a white chick w a wig on AND her skin tone changes ! It's clear that she wears different levels of self tanner 😳.
The bottom line is she diminished the struggle and pain and discrimination of actual black women.
I can't believe she wasn't charged with fraud.
Overall a snoozefest.
Workin' Moms (2017)
Really good, original, and funny until S5.
As many have said before, this show was actually really funny, original, and good until mid Season 6
Even as someone without kids I really enjoyed this.
I will say the character of Jenny is super annoying and really pointless actually. It's super uncomfortable to watch a mom who clearly isn't into her child and being a mom. Her story line only gets worse and worse until it's 🙄🙄🙄.
Kate is a great character at first but her constant obnoxious workaholic ways get old. She is super disrespectful to Nathan in that way. The friendship between her and Anne is great.
THEN IT TOOK A TURN. HOLY CRAP Season 6 was HORRIBLE. I literally ffd thru parts of episodes.
A secret love child appears. One of the parent slaps kids. A "pretend" pregnancy w a predictable twist (puke) Anne becomes more and more annoying angry and unlikeable. Even the introduction of a semi interesting bisexual character can't save this season.
There are some stand out characters who still deliver: Rosie, Richard,Lionel, Sloane but not nearly enough to compensate.
They should have stopped at season 5 and NOT continued to a now-filming S7.
Tell Me Lies (2022)
I don't agree with the bad reviews but....
Be ready for a lot of stereotypical college angst and "it's the end of the world" dating and sex scenarios. "Processing" things and lame discussions about nothing.
Some of the acting and dialogue IS terrible and drags.
The positives:
the sex scenes are super hot. Have definitely given my bf and I inspiration.
Stephan is GORGEOUS and very fun to look at.
The actor clearly had a nose job a few years ago. (Look at his previous roles)
The actress who plays Lucy is actually good.
That said I definitely skipped an episode or two and read the recaps. That should tell you something.
This is a "I guess I will watch bc there is nothing else I feel like getting invested in right now" show.
Yellowjackets (2021)
A slow burn but definitely worth watching
Ok full disclosure I stopped and restarted this series because I couldn't get it into it at first.
1. It is a SLOW burn with a lot of anticipation that can be a little frustrating at times.
2. Series bares a LOT of similarities to "Lost" both in plot and structure. Obviously the circumstances are the same but every episode shows the back story of a main character and there are symbols, signs, mystery, and intrigue.
3. The back and forth between present and past is engaging and people definitely not being who they appear keeps us guessing.
4. Juliette Lewis is SO overrated as an actress and plays this role like 90% of her others, grumpy, mumbling, and "rough". Her performance is super tiresome and wears THIN.
5. Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynsky are EXCELLENT! They both deserved their Emmy noms.
The Unforgivable (2021)
Ummm this isn't a "who done it"
I was really wanting to like this movie because Sandra is always good. This was a huge disappointment. She is a such an ahole who screams at everyone she doesn't get what she wants from. She not a sympathizer character you feel sorry for, she's just a total violent jerk. I couldn't have cared less about her by the end.
Uh ya your sister shouldn't be with you you're a horrible person
Also the story isn't intriguing. She killed a cop, big whoop not interesting or suspenseful in my option.
I fast forwarded through some of it because it was a snore. Sandra gives a good performance but this is a "must skip"
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
A comedy classic
Unique, quirky, hilarious, a true classic with INSANELY talented actors. Anyone who doesn't love this show or "get it" as David would say, is a stupid loser with horrible taste.
Run (2020)
Huge eye roll for the over acting
I LOVE suspense but this falls way short. First, there isn't enough build up for us to be invested to these characters. The over acting and completely unrealistic circumstances are "eye rolling". The second half of the movie is definitely better but I really didn't care what happened to this chick to be honest. A "skip it" for me.
Casablanca (1942)
Nope
Why the fk is this considered to be one of the best movies ever?
Bogart is not hot for a leading man and the story is lame. There are many many movies that are much better.
Dollface (2019)
Really fun show -different!
I was skeptical about this one but it's really good. I would have given it eight stars but the stupid "cat lady" character bit is creepy and gets old. I just started ffding thru those parts. A must try!
Mom (2013)
Great show
I normally hate network sit coma but this is a big exception! The whole cast is great. I've watched the series over and over it is so good. Jaime Presley is amazing as well as Anna and Alison. The one thing I hate about this show..... ADAM. He's a horrible character. First he drinks like a fish. No one in AA would date him. He is mean, surly, nasty, boring and an overall D******CK.
He is a huge boat anchor. I have said "ugh I hate Adam! " a million times.
Other than him a great show!
Mare of Easttown (2021)
AMAZING ACTING
This will keep you guessing til the very end ! The actress who plays Laurie is amazing !
There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane (2011)
Uh I'd like the two hours of my life back please
Woman drives drunk and high and kills six people and herself. Family goes to great lengths to prove something else must be at play. Nope, everything they find indicated the same results.
Making a Murderer (2015)
Heartbreaking
Be prepared to cry ! An absolute heartbreaking account of how we criminalize poverty! Cops are so corrupt POS!
Better Things (2016)
I love this show but this season suuucks
What happened? I love this show but this season is pointless and almost unwatchable. Where is Sunny? Tressa? Phil?
Frankie is turning into a giant ahole. Really disappointed in the current writing Sam.
