Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
Awesome, Indiana Jones type movie!!
Remember a world before PC, before multiculturalism, a pure USA. Those were the days. This movie is based on a 1950s feel, even down to the color of the movie. Action is first rate! Sci-Fi scenes are excellent. This is a movie for the whole family. I took my 5, 8 and 10 year old. Everyone loved the movie. Definitely a DVD purchase. If your looking for a good time and a trip to the past, this is the movie for you. 5 *****. Would love to see this have sequels! http://www.skycaptain.com/ Action/Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Thriller
1 hr. 47 min. Famous scientists around the world have mysteriously disappeared and Chronicle reporter Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) along with ace aviator Sky Captain (Jude Law) are on the investigation. Risking their lives as they travel to exotic places around world, can the fearless duo stop Dr. Totenkopf, the evil mastermind behind a plot to destroy the earth? Aided by Franky Cook (Angelina Jolie), commander of an all-female amphibious squadron, and technical genius Dex (Giovanni Ribisi), Polly and Sky Captain may be our planet's only hope. Release Date: September 17th, 2004 (wide). MPAA Rating: PG for sequences of stylized sci-fi violence and brief mild language. Distributor: Paramount Pictures
Shrek 2 (2004)
Some Sequels should not be made
Let's see, I spent $64 at the theatre for my family of 7 to see this movie with snack bar treats. Mike Myers lost his mojo. No comedic talent in the movie. Same with Eddie Murphy. Are they now washed up hasbeens? Cameron Diaz had a limited role. The only saving grace for this movie is the last 20 minutes. I recommend going to the theatre to see another movie and when it's finished duck into Shrek 2 towards the end. It's the only part worth seeing and it's free. I won't be buying Shrek 2 on DVD and I expect this movie to sink like a Brick after the first Weekend. Shame on Hollywood for producing a movie for families just for the sake of having an offering for families. More adult feel than kid feel. Graphics and sound seem off compared with First film. Puss and boots is awesome. Would love to see a new spin off on this character. All and All avoid this movie, sleeping is more productive.
Peter Pan (2003)
Best Peter Pan Yet!
I saw this movie with my 5 children. We all loved the movie. They took a child's imagination and turned it into a movie. Best movie of 2003 and it's not a Disney, thank goodness. We paid $51 for tickets and refreshments. It was worth the adventure.
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)
Worst Sequel of the Year
This movie was just plain awful. Daphne is Buffy the vampire slayer. Fred is an air headed Prince. The only actors true to their parts are Velma, Shaggy and Scooby. The 3 can't make up for the other 2. In this case Daphne and Fred sink the show. It's a shame the cartoon is a classic; the made for TV will only be fit for the trash can. Save your money, avoid this movie. Summary of movie: Mystery Inc is living the high lift basking in their new fame as super detectives, when a villain they put behind bars shows up. He has created a recipe for creating ghosts, takes their fake ghosts they defeated from the past and turns them real. Mystery Inc now has to fight the fight of their lives, too bad they could not act as well.
